Blanking off the EGR....?

Hi folks,

Hoping for some advice here....got a 2007 Ibiza Cupra 160 PD and was wondering if there is any benefit in blanking off the EGR as I have done on my T4 and Passat?

What, if any, are the pitfalls? Are there any issues with the MOT or the ECU etc etc?

Any help always apreciated!

Ecu will flash up the cel which you can have mapped out as I have done

You can buy an allard egr delete pipe, pics of mines on my fabia can be found in readers rides

As for differences etc my turbo feels as if it's spooking faster and it definately has quicker throttle response. Make sure you blank off the two pipes you disconnect from the standard egr valve. I never done this to start with and my mate told me I should so he done it for me and I noticed a further difference

A screw and a bolt and small jubilee clamp is all that's needed. Can post a pic of the pipes blocked if you need it

Hi Juego

Pics would be great, don't wanna get this wrong! The engine in this is a little more complex in this than in my T4, it was just a simplex job of fitting a blanking plate in my van!

Thanks, Jonny

Nice one fella, will get under the bonnet and have a look later this week!

Is there any way of doing this mod without the expense of the Allard pipe?

In all honesty i can't answer that one as i got this one second hand for a good price. Didn't plan on doing it at all tbh but couldn't pass it up lol

Some people modify their original EGR Valves but not sure how you'd go about doing that tbh

there only £60 and useful if youwant to run a boost gauge as they have an outlet on them if you want to use it.

sounds good, but won't your cel come on all the time ? or do you have to go and get it remapped out, i have a basic 409.1 vag com can i reprogram it out with this. I want one mainly to run a boost gauge off, but getting rid of egr is good too.

My CEL light came one 50 miles after fitting the allard pipe, but it's now since been remapped out

Tbh the CEL didn't bother me at all though cos once i was used to seeing it i never noticed it anymore
