does your powerflow have powerflow stamped on it anywhere?i suspect mines a powerflow, but has nothing to say that it is,previous owenr didn't know, and i can't be assed chasing up the other.
mines blowing and wondered if it would be cheaper to get a new back box put on it,or if it is a powerflow, and its garanteed, get them to replace the knackered back box.
its basically a SS pipe with mild steel box and tail pipe with some chrome tail trims.
don't fancy spending too much on it as i want cat and downpipe soon.
sorry to hijack the thread phil
like said by claudfrog the guarentee only stands for me on mine, if i sell the car then it tough luck on the person who has the car unfortunatly mate,as for the stamp ill have a look tomorrow when i get it on the ramp to raise the susspention(?) but i think it has on the backbox.

Surely the lesson here is.....

Buy cheap, get cheap

Spend that little extra and get so much more quality!

Miltek/Supersprint are the only 2 proven worthwhile exhaust systems for LCR

But neither of the them offer a down pipe. If it wasnt for the customer service (which doesnt cost feck all to get right) or the fact theres a few fitting issues with there staff it would be an ok piece of kit for the money

did bf fit the exhaust ? i only ask as i think they only charged about £50 to fit which is not alot of money for the time it takes .I paid more then twice that so i hope it just the fitting that is to blame but i do keep getting the anti pullition (sp) coming on keep resetting the ecu all well for 3-4 weeks then back on ! get it sorted next service

Ive been back to Blueflame today, the problem has been rectified, but i suspect there is a alot more trouble ahead for anyone else who has had a system fitted !

The Downpipe has almost broken in two, right on the U bend weld. Apparently the wrong welding process has been used, ie Tig Weld.

Affecting mainly cars running higher boost than stock, and also anyone that hasnt changed the Engine mounts.

Seems they are now aware of the problems and no more TIG welds, but i suspect the systems that have already been fitted will perhaps need further attention.

They re-inforced the weld with a supporting bracket and they are confident that this will hold.

Only time will tell.

sounds similar to the problems i had on my beeza with the a-m motorsport system, but it was the flexi section that gave up. That was down to the engine mounts. VAG fit very sloppy mounts as standard and when your running alot more power they just cant cope. The engine moves about far to much and the zorst cant cope with that much pushing and pulling.
I for one wont do any mods to the engine of this car without doing engine mounts first

I remember looking at the BF dp right next to the APR dp at Awesome. The BF one was definitely MIG welded and the APR TIG welded.

On quite a few different levels, TIG welding is better than MIG welding, especially on "exotic" stuff like stainless and aluminium (particularly thin gauges), but it is however definitely possible to produce high quality welds on stainless with MIG, so long as the correct wire, gas and techniques are used.

One thing I did notice was that the BF dp seemed to be made of 1.5D bends, whereas the APR one appears to have a single 1D (i.e. tighter curve) at one point. This meant that, on the BF, there was one joint where they'd bevel cut two bends and the joint was joggled (i.e. the two pipe ends didn't line up particularly well). This can mean that there is a step in the joint, creating a thin point in the weld.

It'd be interesting to know if it was that joint that failed...

I might be getting my TIG and MIG mixed up, i should of taken a picture really, but the break definitly was around the area of the u bend, My garage did say it was on the weld.

Have they admited its a problem with the system for the LCR?
