So, as the long title suggests, I am looking at upgrading my bluetooth module.

Appreciate this is a niche thread/topic but am very appreciative of any assistance here.

Done a load of research and here's where I've got too:

I have a factory fitted RNS310. I've read a few comments which say you need an RNS or RCD510 to get A2DP working but I think that's rubbish if you read the RNS310 manual:

http://www.oemretrofits.co.uk/manuals/RNS310-RNS315-Manual.pdf

Page 22 states: "External audio source must support the A2DP Bluetooth profile and must be linked to a factory-installed mobile phone package that supports this function"

I've got the option for Bluetooth Audio, but it just doesn't give me the option on my phone when I'm connected via Bluetooth because my current module doesn't support A2DP presumably, not due to anything on the RNS310 I believe. I really don't want to have to spend hundreds of pounds on an RNS510 when I'm perfectly happy with my existing one, minus the lack of A2DP.

The current Bluetooth Module under the drivers seat is:

Model - UHV CAN FSE 2P8X
Part Number - 1Z0 035 729C

Looked this up on RossTech:

http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Telephone_Retrofitting

Part Number Type PR-Code Protocol 3G HFP PBAP A2DP rSAP SOP
1Z0-035-729-C UHV-Standard Harman/Becker 2P8X 9W3/9W4/9W8/9W9 BAP No Yes ??? ??? No 22/2009

This existing module already works fine for Phone Connectivity, Calls and PBAP (Phone Book Access Profile). All I want is to get A2DP working so I can stream audio.

Surely, I can just purchase a similar module as listed on the Ross-Tech page above which has A2DP, such as:

- 1K8-035-730-C (This is older than mine, and is a 'Standard' rather than a 'Premium' but works for A2DP and supports BAP (presumably for my MFD3 white screen) http://ebay.eu/1ngkSTM

- 3C8-035-730- (A, B, C, D or E). This is much newer than mine, supports A2DP and the D and E versions also support Wifi Hotspot (really don't care about this). Can't find a C version but have found this D version for £85 http://ebay.eu/1P8FtiO

Does anyone know if a) These are going to work if I just swap it out and b) Will I need a VAGCOM or VCDS coding? I'm hoping not as I don't have access to one..

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide.

Sorry im not much help but I have the same issue with my 08 plate FR. I have a Seat RNS510 the one without the memory card and have access to all the bluetooth features you have mentioned except audio streaming and have to use an AUX cable. Im intrested on what people come back to you with.

It must be possible. I just hope someone on this forum knows about it and can advise. I've found other threads related to A2DP which a bluetooth module upgrade might resolve, so I think enough people would benefit from finding this out.

I'm not sure, but i was nearly buying a module that allowed A2DP but it only sent audio to the right side speakers. Had to run in wires to get it working through all speakers so i never bothered. I look to see if it the same as what you are on about.
