Bonnet wont open!! HELP!

Went to change my battery today and change the bonnet release cable as i know it has streched and its got to the point where the boonet wont open be ive been able to pull it up after releasing the catch but i cannt even do that.. any one got any ideas how to open it.. as the batterys dead and cant get the car anywhere

can you disconnect the cable from the handle and grab it with some mole grips and yank on it to open the bonnet

i had this problem today aswell went to pop my bonnet coz i done a engine transplant- how weird. first try what geek said- if that dont work (witch it didnt for me coz it had broken at the bonnet hing) these is where thinks get difficult. un clip the grill VERY CARFULLY from under neath the lights. then put your hand up underneath the grill and where the cable goes in the hing- push it with your finger to the left (i think) hope this works

ooo one i can help with... as i still havent fixed mine... must learn how to fix it lol

you will need a screw driver with a long shaft (ooo eeerrr)
and a torch....

Aint to easy at first... and feels like things are gonna brake.. :/

But you need someone to pull you bonnet up as hard as they can.. and you need to slide the screw driver in the gap just to the right of your seat badge..

pushing this lil catch to the right

will be a mega pain in the butt... and if you dont plan on fixing the catch straight away... or dont know how to if the cable has come off of the catch (please tell me if you find out how to attatch it again lol)

then losen you bonnet catch and move it up slightly.. thus the tight gap you strugled with earlier is now a lil bigger and makes life easier..

erm have fun :/

EASY! Orderd a new cable thursday picked it up this morning and fitted it took about 10minutes... Didnt relase that the cable was in 2 seperate parts. Being joined half way down the driverside wing.

Keith if you take the catch off the car you will see how it attachs its fairly simple..


If anybody needs the part number for the cable its :6k 823 531 CABLE.

Thats the problem.. i cant see how it attatches.. lol

im not sure if my cable/catch is broken or something as i cant see if its missing something.. :/

yeah i know you cant replace it easy

any chance you could draw a lil pic of how it attatches are the catch end? lol

i dont have a scanner mate but if you take the catch off and look on the back on the right hand side there is a smallish hole and on the end of the cable its like a S shape you just slide the rod into the hole.
