Hey,
I've noticed today that in fifth and sixth the boost gauge shows 0.8bar?? The other gears are normal (0.5-0.6 bar). Car is stock map 180hp Leon. Also noticed mpg has dropped quite a bit.

What could this be?
Thanks
Dan

I think thats normal? my old RS turbo and R5 turbo used to boost more in higher gears.......I've not really paid much attention to leon I'll check for you when I go out tonight :D

I think its normally caused because the hole in the wastegate isn't that big and when you add a aftermarket exhaust and intake etc the engine flows more air. When all that added air tries to go through the wastegate it can't all get through so more goes through the turbo instead causing the boost to raise above the normal level

mine will do this say when im in 3rd and doing about 30 and put my foot to the floor it sort of has a build up and then kicks in as the revs build up slow untill it gets up to speed like and the turbo kicks in. its not as instant and free revving as it would be if you went from 1st to 2nd to 3rd all through the rev range.

I think this is because in the lower gears when you put your foot down you are using the turbo pressure very quick as its using the air the turbo has created as it revs through the rev range fast in lower gears, 1 2 3.. but then if only cruising at 40 50 and put foot down in 5th 6th then it will have a build up of pressure and not use the air created so fast because its not revving as fast as it would in 1st/2nd.

hope it makes some sort of sense but this is my explaination.. maybe wrong maybe right

its nothing to do with exhaust etc.. Its load applied to the engine. 5th/6th is a greater load applied, which is a torque request as far as the ecu is concerned.. it will try harder to achieve its torque request when its loaded more (ie taller gears) - normal ME7 function
