Hi, in my 2018 ST boot I´m trying to install Mercedes Kleiderhaken A2128100340, to hold the boot floor in the up position instead of holding it with my head. To fix the hook in the car I fabricated stainless steel bracket - see photos - and now I need to fasten this bracket to body support which is behind the upper boot plastic cover.
How should I reliably fix the hook to the bracket if I NEVER want to dissemble the trunk trim again?
Could someone please give me some hints what would be the best fixing method for hook/bracket and bracket/support that would hold tight for years? With screws + nylon locknuts, or with push pins / push clips?
Here are my thinkings:
Bracket / body support fastening
Stainless steel bracket to steel body support mount - I think that screw+nylon locknut would be ok here for reliable and long lasting fastening (.... unless anyone maybe reports some bad experience with nylon locknuts loosening in the car over the time.) This screw is vertical, and no additional forces there, just vibrations.
Bracket is fixed to the body with M6 screw on top of the duct tape + by the big hole tucked under the trunk upper cover fixing point.
Hook / bracket fastening
Hook is made of ABS + there are some plastic spacers (these can be changed for steel ones if it helps). Plastics, so I believe ABS too, tend to creep under the pressure, plus there´s some heat inside, + car vibrations etc. So I´m not sure if the screw/ locknut fastening won´t get loose over the time thanks to ABS creep?
(These two screws are horizontal, and no extra forces in them).
Or would be better to fix the hook to bracket with some automotive push clips instead? I really don't want to discover any rattle noises in the boot after some years.....
Would be thankful for any opinions
