This car is very noisy in stock form, interfering with music listening and overall driving comfort.
We're using Aerocell QP Genio soundproofing for the floor, trunk, and wheel arches. Note the funny little patches on the underside of the stock soundproofing.
What is Aerocell QP Genio:
1. Single-layer construction / multifunctionality
Essentially, Aerocell QP combines vibration damping, sound absorption, and thermal insulation in a single sheet, eliminating the need for three separate layers.
This simplifies installation and speeds up the car's finishing process.
2. Thickness and material properties
— The sheet thickness is approximately 4 mm.
— Composition: aluminum foil (~100 µm), polymer layer with Aerocell granules (EPP or similar structure)
— Wide operating temperature range (approximately from –50°C to +130°C)
3. Increased body rigidity / vibration reduction
The material is claimed to increase metal rigidity up to 7 times and reduce harmful vibrations, which helps reduce vibration fatigue and extend the life of the body.
The manufacturers claim that increased rigidity improves vehicle handling and stability (less "rubbing" and roll).
4. Noise reduction / hum elimination
Aerocell QP Genio is positioned as a material that effectively copes with "low-frequency hum" and street noise.
The claimed airborne noise insulation index is ~30 dB.
5. Thermal Insulation / Climate Comfort
In addition to noise protection, the material provides some thermal insulation for the interior, helping to maintain temperature and reduce temperature fluctuations.
This may slightly reduce the load on the air conditioning or heating system.
6. Anti-Corrosion Protection / Protection from Metal Aging
Due to the coating and reduced vibration load, the material claims to protect metal from corrosion and vibration aging.
7. Lightweight / Weight Reduction Compared to Traditional "Pie"
Compared to multi-layer sound insulation systems, Aerocell QP promises a smaller increase in vehicle weight (descriptions often claim a 1.5-fold reduction in vehicle load).
8. Faster Installation / Manufacturability
Since the functions are combined, installation is faster – they claim that a complete body treatment can be completed in ~4 hours (excluding interior disassembly).
This can reduce installation costs and vehicle service time.
Perhaps I will add more video/photo materials.
