Hi All,

Just bought a used Leon Fr which i shall be picking up on Saturday, but have lots of questions in the mean time.

2015 Leon FR DSG (6 Speed) 184

Winter Pack with Headlamp Washers and Heated Seats
Tech Pack
Sunroof
Seat Sound
Adaptive Cruise Control
Titanium Pack

- The only thing i was hoping the car would have was a reversing camera, is this possible to retrofit?

- With a DSG gearbox (6 Speed) when should the oil be changed, how much oil, and what grade

Pics will be coming soon

Thanks

Very nice car, once you have 15 post's please put up some pictures and welcome to SCN

Reversing Camera is possible, check out this post http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=393200&highlight=reversing+camera

Cant answer the oil change but the on board system will tell you when the car needs a service, others here should be able to confirm when.

Enjoy your car very nice spec the only thing you have not told us is the color.

I believe it's 30k for the dsg oil.

If it's the same as VW, which I suspect it is, then it's 40k for the dsg oil change service. From VW's website;

Why does my DSG transmission oil and filter need to be changed?
This sophisticated piece of engineering needs regular oil changes. The smooth two-clutch system is computer-controlled with very fine engineering tolerances. If the gearbox oil is dirty it will damage the other parts and affect the performance.

What happens if it's not changed?
Dirty oil can overheat the gearbox or cause the clutches to burn out. This will lead to poor gear selection, loss of power and transmission failure.

What do we do?
We check the gearbox for leaks, drain it and replace the oil filter* before filling it with high quality gearbox oil to Volkswagen approved standards.
*Only on applicable vehicles

How often does it need to be changed?
The oil, every 40,000 miles, the filter may need to be changed as well.

My 30k came from a friend who is an independent auto gearbox specialist, mind you I think this advice was for an older car so it looks like the service interval has changed for the newer models?
Might be worth a phone call to a specialist who mends them day in day out and see what they advise?
Is there a different service interval between 6 and 7 speed boxes?

I could be wrong but I thought that the 7-speed had a very long drain interval, if not "sealed for life"

The 6-speed has wet clutches and therefore the oil is probably susceptible to contamination and would need regular changes.

Also my understanding abt 30K, for a perfotmance car.
Likely an Ecomotive of just over 100Hp could be run for min. 40K, however why run this risk.
The dealer will advise as per service schedule. But also the way the car has been used will need
to taken into account (think of a car like diesel FR: used as a drivingschool car in London.....).
With fresh oil You can not have a dirty filter, microscopic residues.

Hence do not be penny-wise and/but pound-foolish

7Speed is a dry DSG, so most likely for a car lifetime OK, but no experiances with those.

Brilliant Many thanks for your response, every 40k it is then.

Reversing camera looks to complicated, i shall give that a miss then ;)

I agree on the reversing camera to make it look like original is complicated and i have to say the park pilot works fine for me.
However if all you are after is a reversing camera and do not mind another screen you can always buy a complete kit online (Ebay have them from £20 to £500) to do the job.
