The risk you run with running a dual port valve is that it can throw the car into limp mode, it thinks it has a boost leak. If you set up the Turbosmart or Forge Split R correctly, you can avoid this but your car won't run as sweetly as it would with a fully recirculating valve (or the other two set to fully recirc mode).

Recirculating valves are designed to be quiet on a standard engine, as close to the quietness of an OEM valve as possible. However, once you start to modify other areas, you can make them pretty loud. You will achieve this by fitting an open cone air filter for one, a new turbo inlet pipe secondly and then by getting a remap. A remapped engine will produce alot more turbo pressure than one without a remap, this therefore will cause the DV to be louder.

By all means try out a dual port valve but if you want the best from you car performance wise, stick with the Forge that you have.

the car has a revo stage 1 re-map, well that's what the guy i bought the car off said and it has the revo plug thing:confused: it has a rr print showing it reached 201bhp but that was in 2005. it also has a pipercross filter on it aswell. the last thing i want to do is upset the performance of the car just for the sake of having a louder dv. so there's no benefit of buying the bailey dv30 then ? as you say, i may aswell just stick with the forge one.

Do you know what yours boosts to at all? I know that with a Leon Cupra R, a remap should set peak boost to about 22psi and hold at about 19/20psi. I am not sure what the figures for the Ibiza are, I know it's a smaller turbo but they can't be too low.

At current, my Leon is not running a remap and I think boosts at around 12psi. With just an air filter and Forge 007, it dumps faily loudly.

Have you tried reversing the position of the valve i.e. fitting it sideways? I have not done this yet but I am told it is louder, something to try on the weekend.

There won't be a benefit to buying the Bailey, it is the same concept as the 007. Trying the Turbosmart might be an idea but they are expensive and you need to make sure you get the compromise between noise and recirculation correct. The thing is, if you don't like it then you've wasted alot of money and you'll have to knock off £50 if you want to sell it 2nd hand.

Have you tried a YouTube search for the 007? From memory, there is a golf with one set up like this going into a tunnel that sounds very tasty or have a look here:

http://videos.streetfire.net/video/MKIV-Jetta-GLI-dyno_380374.htm

I think it's the right video although I can't check here at work. Should be a Jetta/Bora on a dyno with a Forge 007.

Anyway, let me know if it's the right vid and if that's the sound you're after :)

and that was on a cupra ? what other mods did the cupra have and what boost was it running ?

Yeh it was on my Cupra, would explain why im on a Cupra site really. Mine with just an induction filter was louder than any other and once i started tinkering with everything else it got even louder.

I aint givin away anymore info, its all on the site already you just cant be bothered to look.

And there is NO risk of going into limp mode by using the Dual Port Turbosmart, ive done extensive testing on how these run on the 1.8T engines so to say its going to go into limp mode because of it is just plain an simple bull ****

Alright, chill.

Saying i'm talking BullS*** isn't going to help anything. The guy is just looking for some info, doesn't take 2mins to help him out.

It's well known that the Split R CAN cause limp mode on the 1.8T engines, I didn't say that is was gospel. I don't see TS being any different or superbly superior to any other valve. You clearly know how to set it up which is a good thing and you avoided problems.

Anyway, Boostabuse. I can't help you with the TS DV but I'd have a play about with the 007 1st before investing in another valve. Try a new turbo inlet pipe also :)

thanks jason s for the info, i appreciate mate. and myki da pyki - i have already explained i have speant ages searching the sight and it's not that i "can't be bothered" it's that i was still unsure. and i know you say it's obvious you were on about a cupra that's why your on a seat forum but what's not obvious is the fact you have nissan pics as your avatar and signature ? that's what confused me and why i asked if you were talking about a cupra. thanks for the info anyway though.

as for the mods, i have a revo stage 1 re-map, a scorpion cat-back system and a pipercross filter but the dv is still fairly quiet. i think it's just caus i'm used to my glanza bov. i can live with it though. gonna put an hks ssq bov on the glanza so that will satisfy my want for a louder woosh ! lol

Well i just come outside now to have a look at it appears the top of my DV was very loose and i think one of the pipes is split

Lucky I will be replacing them now with my silicon ones

Could the loose DV top explain my noise issue?

always a good place to start if its not

this has got me curious about the sound of mine i get the same pigeon bird sort ov sound like whoooooshtshtshtsh sort ov lol i have my split r blanked off so its just like a 007 and the noise comes out of my jetex i have it set to 21 clicks which i think is about right for stg2 and k03s but nw im nt sure lol

i run a baileys single piston atmospheric with an external waste gate spring inside of it 14psi and the car runs fine also i havent herd some 1 have a louder dumpvalve yet infact its to loud lmao

Well i'vereplacedthe hoses with silicon ones and hopefully done the bypass right

1 to top of DV
1 to manifold and
1 to the little unit (sorry don't know what it is)

I have some spare hose is there any others i can replace before test drive?

Wel just to report back on my findings

F**K ME!! Is all I can say

Car is quicker than before
Sounds better
And is much more reponsive

Can't believe the difference

Don't actually know what caused the problem whether it was the top of the DV no tight enough or the vacumne hoses were pretty shabby so replaced them and did the bypass

Only thing I can say is if you DV is making the chirp/chatter and its on the right way round check what I have done because all I get now is a sweet DV noise

Just like to say thanks for people helping me out really appreciate the advice
