As above, Is it worth me getting drilled a grooved discs ? or just drilled / grooved? standard type discs good enough? if so / not which set-up should I go for?

Also what size are my brake discs ? i've read the face-lift LC brakes were larger? mine was a late pre-face lift with a facelift LC kit, will I be able to use the larger brake discs / pads?

I've seen some really well priced brake discs on eBay for mk4 golfs, drilled and grooved, would mk4 golf Gti discs fit?

Thanks

Depends how you drive mo if you have heavy feet on both the accelerator and breaks then drilled and grooved are what you want but if you don't have much need for cooling standard should be fine ;)

I think the cupras were all the same with 312 mm front and 200 something on the back but I could Be wrong

Pretty sure the mk4's will fit as well ;)

Be carefull buying cheap ebay drilled disks, brakes are not an area you should skimp on and heard a few horror stories.

get drilled and grovved,i just put some EBC red stuff pads all round on my motor and it changed the braking, but under heavy braking you can get a bit of fade still,il be ordering the disc to match my pads soon

dont get drilled i had them on a previous car and they did crack, everyone says it and in my opinion its justified mate, definately get grooved, my understanding id they sweep away the dust developed while braking giving a constant disc to pad contact, being more efficiant and keeping them cooler, dont buy too cheap or your buy twice mate, im in a similar dilemma with my brakes, research ferodo ds2500 to, meant to be unreal if your keeping the 312mm set up, daz

As previous post do not get drilled discs they will crack!

I've just put some EBC Ultimax discs (grooved) on the front of mine with Ferodo DS2500 pads. Change the fluid and get some braided hoses and it'll be transformed. This set up was at the recommendation of Badger Bill although I bought them from ebay as they were cheaper than he'd quoted.

I went through this myself not so long ago, and the general opinion was stick with just grooved unless your going to spend a fair amount on discs as the cheaper drilled discs are prone to cracking.

In the end i went for Brembo max discs (grooved) and Black Diamond Predator fast road pads, Ferrodo DS2500 pads are meant to be one of the best but they were out of my price range.

Should be 312mm on the petrol Cupras, after the MY03 facelift when the diesel Cupra came out the derv ones had 288mm.

Your's is an 02 plate, mine is a 51 and it has 312mm :)

I also recommend changing brake fluid too if you're really in need of grooved/drilled discs, if your heavy braking, your brake fluid will also have lost its qualities....
