brakes have now been done and didnt take long really, i can confirm that the brake caliper carrier does NOT nee to be removed you just need to pull disc out on one side and angle it towards you and it just slips out!!!!

ryan all I done on mine was to spray some wd40 into the bolt holes of the hub/brakedisc and around the inner bore of the brake disc itself. allow to sak for 5min then take a plastic mallet to the rear point of the disc and hit it. then turn the disc 90 degrees and hit again. etc etc. it will work loose in the end. before putting on new disc clean the hub with a wire brush and put a small bit of copper grease onto the face/lip of the hub to stop the disc seizing onto it again.

Will try that next time. Took all my brakes off except discs and cleaned them up. Were pretty well caked with dirt, rustcetc. Applied copper slip to all moving parts, carriers runners, back of pads etc. Fully bled all too, loads of bubbles came out. Feels much better now.

I have managed to aquire a 345mm brembo kit front (and rears)
I will report back on fitting and result. I know its overkill on the Altea but having just backended an Ibiza with my Alfa, perhaps not!

nothing wrong with doing the back. what size are they Chris? I'm wanting to do mine, looks like a i'd need discs, pads, callipers, splash plates and carriers to go upto 286mm discs.

next on my list of things todo is my 18" S5 Replicas! that comes next week I hope.

Haven't got them yet, just waiting for twit on ebay to get back to me. I suspect he may have wanted more than I won them for but being an ebay nube didn't put in a reserve price and may try to withdraw sale.

Possibly, but I'm going to wait and see. Friend with and A3 and 345mm set up has measured total diameter of caliper and we reckon theres 5mm clearance.... My Ronal's seem to have a very thin internal profile.
