hi all,

I have a very stupid friend who left a bottle of brake fluid open on top of his car, this was blown over and its spilt all over the roof, what effect will this have on the car? what can he do to stop anything happening to the paint, ive heard it can strip the paint

thanks

O okay mate, but if its not cleaned properly will it strip/

How long after would u be able to tell if its done damage?

pretty much straight away i'd guess. can't be talking more than a few hours/days

it needs a good clean.

I have seen incidents where people have had brake fluid or pain striper put on their cars out of spite overnight, then its clear as can be.

However this is where fluid is left on overnight, not a few mins then washed off so it may be that if hes not cleaned it off properly then there may be a very small amount left and any marking may take a few days, but im sure you would have an idea within 24 hours.

Any idea how long it was on there for?

Id imagine you would know in a few days if there was any damage.

Id have washed a few times thoroughly with new cloth each time.

Well im at work havent had a chance to talk to him properly, but knowing him, he probably wouldnt have cleaned it properly, o well his loss

cheers lads

Angry VW Mexico employees put brake fluid into the washers of some new Beetles. Even though it was mixed with water, it still ate paint off the A pillars and roof!
