brake pad sensors?

do the mk3 cupras have brake pads sensors? as mine are really low now and making a grinding noise but no light has illuminated on the dash, i would have thought it would have had a warning light. any thoughts appreciated

I think my rear pads must be low but you can't even see them without removing the wheel!

the top middle warning light (red exclamation mark in a circle) has come on a couple of times but I thought that was for fluid level...

i found out that it wanst low level pads causing the noise, it was because the pads had heated up and cooled really quickly or summit and they were just knackerd and made a really horrid noise on contact. but i think there is a light for low pad level.
