Hi just noticed and rather worried that when i am driving and press the brake pedal in, it makes a click / tap noise.

recently had front pads n discs changed and brake power seems fine .

only use standard pads n discs as its 1.6s not a cupra R . this could of been making the noise ever since i bought the car but i have not noticed it up until now . its not loud just click ,, seems to be coming from the front end .

is this normal ? or not ? as car seems fine performance wise.

thanks in advance. Davies

Would you say the noise is from inside or outside ?
If its outside it could be the pads moving slightly in the carrier...
If you try moving slowly in reverse and brake, see if the click happens and then reverse a bit further and brake again,if the click does not happen this time it will be the pads moving slightly, nothing to worry about....

wound window down and i think you could be right sounds like metal on metal so maybe the pad is moving around , never noticed it tbh apart from the recent pads n discs change , perhaps very slight diff fitting per other manufacturers i dunno. seems fine though tbh .

another question is it safe to remove the big metal guards ? the ones behind the discs

Yeh diffrent manufacturers pads are slightly diffrent sizes so can move slightly when braking,as they move it can cause a noise as you described.
the gaurds are to keep out road dirt as much as poss, you could remove them i guess but there is no benefit and they are there for a reason ...

true that , will keep them just frigging ugly lol , might give them a spray . thanks for you input on this matter , appreciated.
