I need new front dics and pads very very soon!

I can get ATE standard discs with EBC greenstuff pads from ECP nice an cheap.

I have done a lot of searching and found mixed reviews on the EBC pads.

My Cupra is staying standard power wise till next year so no need for a massive step up in brakes.

Im just after something that will stop a little better than the standard OEM brakes, will ATE discs & Green stuff pads be better?

p.s i would buy Bill's brembo/ds2500 setup but funds will not allow.

Look forward to reading your replies.

Thanks, Dan

EBC are actually good pads, what people dont relise is that you cant just put a set of EBC pads on, go 100mph down a straight and expect to stop in time, EBC brake pads actually take between 200-500 miles to break in, when u buy them ul see that on the pad it has like a 2mm thick extra surface on the pad, that needs to be worn through first, and, dnt expect to wear it off buy thrashing it around and slamming the brakes on, these pads dont work like that, they need to be gently broken in, i have sold EBC to aston martin race car owners in my past job and they are very happy with them but each to there own opinion

One things for sure, EBC 307+ brake fluid as shite for sure!! Supposed to be xtreme but faded under trackday with brembo and ferrodo uppgrade. changed to motul RBF now, even cheaper aswell!!!
No faith to the EBC brand after this incident!!!

But with DS2500's you can ;) not that i recommend it tho lol.

I had green stuff pads, and had them long enough to ware that top surface away, were still absolutely ****, always fading under everyday road conditions! they were deadly, fitted DS2500's and they were great, also had green stuff pads on my old punto, they were also crap, i replaced them with tarox fast road pads and they were great too.

When I changed my EBC green stuff pads in my old car they fell out of the calipers in several pieces.... They hadn't been in all that long or abused particularly hard. Never again..

I've never had any issues with Ferrodo DS2500s and Motul RBF fluid - the pads are outliving my discs by a long way and I've never noticed any fade from them, including on track. They're more money than the EBCs yes but when it comes to brakes I wouldn't skimp.

I need a basic setup due to funds and been looking at mintex pads and disks on ebay. Mintex arn't bad for the money. Want to get some motul fluid though when I change them over.

EBC pads are not in the same league as Ferodo DS2500's
It is nothing to do with bedding in, its the friction material used.

Both makes bedded in, and DS2500's have significantly more bite from cold and hot, and do not abrade the disks as hard as Reds/Yellows do (ignoring way too soft greens for obvious reasons)

I too am a reseller of EBC but will not sell their pads, when there is a far better, same money pad available.

:)

ds ferodo's also better.... (not the race series ds2500/3000) these are the road going ones, ot ATE pads also

Are the DS ferodo's a hard pad?

Where can I get the DS ferodo's for normal road use? I have been looking around for mintex and they only ever seem to come paired with the disks and pads but I just need pads as they are sqeeling from the current crappy pads that are on but the disks are fine.

lets be fair ebc pads have no bite from hot or cold you would be better investing in a set of asda sponges for brakes

Thanks for your opinions guys.

Think i'm just gonna go for standard discs and pads for now to save money.

I will be upgrading to brembos & DS2500 next year when i will be running more power.
