I actually got round to changing the brake/clutch fluid in the LCR today and wow!!!!! :funk:
its a relatively easy job to do apart from bleeding the master cylinder:censored: very awkward and absolutley no room even with the charge pipe off!

The fluid was a very dark brown almost black in some areas and i took alot of air out too, and dirt:confused:

I now have a very firm pedal and the clutch seems better aswell really impressed cant believe how rubbish the brakes were before i did this. dont know when it was done before? took me 5 hours to do it in total and used 2 liters of fluid with a gunson eazibleed,

Always used one of them eazibleeds before with no problems, this is well worth doing i will now do it every 2 years

Just thought i would share this with everyone and if anyone has any questions its still fresh in my mind:D

Also had to change one of the bleed nipples on the brembos as it had a dodgy dent on it, looked like the caliper had been dropped on it at some point?? and i didn't want it snapping off or something.

part number for reference is 6KL698273 its called a repair kit but its just a bleed nipple and rubber cover
and they aint cheap at £28 EACH!!!!!!!!!!!!!:scary:

did you empty out all the original fluid first....coud you write up a breif process of your stages as this will be my task after doing all my discs and pads!

5 hours cor blimey!! Glad I've got a vacuum bleeder bled all 4 brakes and the clutch in 30 mins tops today and you are right it does feel alot better now my last bleed was only 7 months ago but because I can bleed them so fast I can change the fluid frequently without any hassle.

Shouldnt need to bleed the master cylinder, doing it normally will change all the fluid, the master nipples are just there to clear air when dry.

Not going to bleed master cylinder next time as it was just a routine fluid change, way too much hassle will only do this if i ever have to change master cylinder only.

All i did was syringe fluid out of master cylinder to the min mark, pressured up the eazibleed did master cylinder then o/s front caliper x2 nipples then n/s rear caliper x1 nipple
(as its a dual circuit system) then n/s front caliper x2 nipples then o/s rear caliper x1 nipple and then clutch x1 nipple.

It took me a long time because i cleaned everything under the wheelarch as the wheels were off especially the calipers now there shiney and red!!!!!

Then i went round the calipers again only.

Sorted, EASY!!!!!!!

DO NOT do this no need mate, you will have a nightmare of a job on your hands. Just keep an eye on the colour of the fluid coming out the caliper when its the same colour as the clean fluid you put in thats good enough.

Oh... and i used the original volkswagen brake fluid off the shelf in the dealers i bought 2 big 1litre tins:D

Unless you want a lot of grief, you do not drain the system first. Simply put new fluid in the top with the eezibleed and drain the old fluid out of the calipers/bleed nipples. Suck out most of the old fluid from the reservoir first if you want to make the process faster. You'll know when the new fluid comes through by the change of colour. That way there is no chance of air bubbles getting into the system.

<edit> Like godber said above :)

I drained the entire system to take all my calipers of for refurb,

:censored:

I wont be doing it again anytime soon,

all sorted now barring 6 hours of bleeding and 4 bottles of brake fluid,

still have some air to take out tomorrrow, poxy master cylinder!

Either way is ok but i have heard you should never pump the pedal bleed the system as there as been many cases of the master cylinder seals rolling which would lead to replacing it.
