Hi,

ive had the 312mm break upgrade fitted to my ibiza. The ones supplied by golfturbo. Ive had them on a good couple of months now and they're absolutely great.

However if i break whilst reversing they squeak/squeal. But are absolutely fine breaking when going forwards. In fact they break so nice and smooth and quickly :) Im really impressed with them.

What could cause the squeak? Anything easy to do about it? I left it a while see if it goes away as they bed in but it hasnt. Its not a major problem, as obviously i drive forward most of the time :p

Cheers

My standard brakes have squeaked and groaned from new whenever I reverse.

I think with normal braking the pads acquire a slight lip at the trailing edge as the lining material is rubbed backwards. The pads don't pull away from the discs very far and when you reverse this lip drags and makes the pads vibrate. Sound convincing?:)

They may improve as the pads become thinner with wear and so can move away from the discs further. I've given up bothering about mine now but I'm sure a good cleaning and a bit of copper grease in the right places would probably help – for a little while at least.

that is a spot on diagnosis

what you can do is file a chamfer onto the trailing edge of the pads and it should stop the pad material building up

or it could be that you need some more copper-ease grease on the back of the pads
