Hey, does anyone know the part number for the breather pipe that comes from the square box into the engine? it goes into the engine just below the rad top pipe.
it's for an ABF

here's a pic, red has been highlighted to show the pipe needed

thanks in advance!

thanks flapper as usual :)

that is not my car engine (just one i found on the net) so i will look if i can find the code on it tomorrow (in better light)
but it is ripped quite bad, so knowing my luck it would of cut the writing lol

yeah i thought that looked like the 8v

need to get my car running
(also is there a coolant temp sensor? if so do you know where it is? and if this failed, would it cause the car to not idle right?)

thanks :D

there's 3 of them and one of them runs the 'choke' and for life of me can't remember which does what as me and Dinky Dave were going through em recently

If faulty it can starve when cold or too rich when hot and cause uneven running bit you'll see a difference when running hot & cold

just about to change all 3 on mine as a winter treat

oh really? thanks alot mate, cos a mate of mine suggested it, but wasn't sure if i had one, as they can be faulty
as it won't hold it's revs and dies at idle, so i got to hold the revs manually at like 1-1.5k

i hope it's an easy fix, and won't cost too much neither, funds are low atm!

thanks again

hey flapper, i looked and the pipe has split perfectly where the code was, just my luck lol, so need to find the code, if anyone with an ABF has a few mins to check the code please, i have asked Naz, hopefully any of you can help me so i can get my car working :)

it's the pipe below the radiator top hose (that goes into the engine, near the dipstick)
it goes into the black box thing (as seen in the pic above in red)

thanks in advance :)

thanks so much naz, i just looked and took the pipe off, and there i haven't got the 1st 3 digits lol, you life saver

it is 037 103 231C
the slit is BAD, and also there is loads of white mayo in this, is it looking towards head gasket failure?
i just hope not!

also there is a thin pipe going from that box (you know where the pipe i have that has slit) it is very thin, it goes into the bottom of the inlet manifold, i managed to break off the nib (that comes off that box) it has snapped into that tube, i might be able to super glue it back on hopefully pray for me lol, gonna order the pipe today!

thanks for all the help boys, much appreciated

you sir are a complete genius! and i can get some free from uni! thanks again

i orded my part just today, should be here tomorrow, it's a dealer only part, and costed £13.75 including VAT

also could a faulty TB cause my idle problem? i have a spare TB (bought off gtikezz) as i cleaned it out, and now have a gasket for it too!

well hopefully have the pipe tomorrow, put that on, then saturday change TB if still not working, then last resort, RAC on sat too, hopefully it's something simple!

the pipe into the manifold if snapped off may cause air issues but not major running ones i would have thought

worth a thumbover to check though ?

Bloody great this, managed to get my pipe today after getting the part number from this, cheers for your work guys. When you replaced the pipe, did you remove the rad pipe first? Can't get my hands in there!
Silly question for some of you, but what is that square thing where the pipe goes into? not featured in my haynes book!

Cheers

i took the pipe off from the engine first mate, the one on the rad is hard to get too! try undoing the M10 bolt on the top of the slam panel (2 for each corner of the rad) then it should rock forward helping get to the point!

the square box is part of the breather pipe system, helps let out trapped air or something
