hi all, i bought a mk1 leon last year fitted with brembo calipers, i think they are brembo gt's but im not sure, they are not off another leon to my knowledge as they are yellow not red, and i think there was a range of brembo's available in silver, red, and yellow on the aftermarket??

any way, my cars failed its mot yesterday for the following:

nearside front (pipe union) brake caliper (s) leaking
offside front (pipe union) brake caliper (s) leaking

nearside front brake pad(s) locking device insecure
offside front brake pad(s) locking device insecure

im not a mechanic, but the chap at the garage said its nothing really to fix, my main concern is that the brakes are not standard and thatt when they come to fix the probs for the re-test they may then not be able to do so as they will require brembo spec parts ie) brake pad clips as the standard pins wouldnt work? or am i wrong?

the bloke said its probably just a couple of washers that are needed to stop the fluid leaking but again will standard washers be ok to use?? i dont know and they certainly dont know so any help is very much appreciated from anyone on here! many thanks in advance.

Could you post some pictures of these pieces?
Is it the pipe between the two sides of the caliper thats leaking?
What's up with the pins that secure the pads?

hi mate, thanks for the reply, i havent got any pics as my camera has stopped working! ive been told that the pads are 'insecure' as the pins are 'missing' even though ive been to seat manchester tonite on my way home from work and the parts manager and a mechanic have said that the pins are not missing its just that they are fitted from the rear not visible from the front, i havent experienced any brake probs at all, and they think its a bit nit picking to say they are missing. i saw my brakes on a brembo promo shot that someone posted up on here a while ago, they are the yellow ones, the others were red and the third pair were silver, i was hoping they were the same as the cupra 'r' and they retail (pins) at approx 120 quid a pair with springs included. the fluid leak iam told on my mot sheet is from the 'pipe union' the previous owner has fitted goodridge stainless hoses, thanks for reading/any further help.

If you have stainless steel lines then it must be the pipe crossing over from one side to the other.
this is just standard grade brake pipe and fittings, any garage can make you up some
I got 5 sets for 20 GBP

If the pins are not all the way to the front all you need to do is remove the wheel and with a pin punch knock these pins through as far as they will go.
