hi all

After replacing most of the drive train on the car including ap coilovers and refurb wishbones, drive shafts, trackrod ends etc and a new miltek exhaust (which is a brilliant fit) i have turned my attention to the brakes. I have done the back ones using red hamerite which actually look ok and they were in good condition, which can't be said for the brembo's. To say its an 03 car they are in dire condition the breaks on my old supra which was 22 years old were in better nick. The alloy has rusted or what ever you call it for alloy around the stainless shim plates the pads sit on causing the little plates to push up and cause the breaks to bind. So i have decided to totally strip them back and refurb them.

I have found a company that can supply all new bolts pipe and stainless steel pad shim screws as the ones on are mild steel and are rusted to bits, to say what the brembos cost new they are rather crap and havent lasted well. The company i have got the bits from is called caprisports have been in contact with a guy called Neil there and he has been really helpfull.

Will try and post some pictures of befor and after shortly.

Sounds good, there's also a company called Biggred.co.uk that supply pistons, sliders etc. They also do powder coating, seal kits or they'll refurb for you.:)

Pistons and seals seem to be in very good condition although i will be replacing the dust gaurds around the pistons as they are all knackered. I got the dust guards from Seat i think they were something like £45 per caliper.

Neil at caprisport said he would be putting the kits on ebay

But he said he would knock 10% off if you contacted them direct.

The actuall slides are stainless steel and don't need replacing its just the bolts that hold them in.

Thanks, the lower pipe doesn't look as bad when you look straight on, might make another. The dust seals i got from my local Seat dealer they were £40 ish per side. The company that deals in the UK for Brembo wanted a little bit less i think but by the time you factor in postage was roughly the same price.

I have seen the damage brake fluid can do Wayne so will be extra carefull when i put them back on.

Great job and im thinking about doing all this to my brakes, what paint did you use and how did you go about cleaning them all down and preparing them for paint.....stuff like that ?

I had mine powder coated (Paint code RAL 3003). The paint shop stripped the old paint of for me with some nasty chemicals
