I recently searched for reasonably priced drilled/grooved discs for the LCR and came across Brakes International Ltd.
They were advertising the LCR front discs as 323mm dia at first but after some toing and froing they corrected it to show 312mm dia.
Anyway the upshot is they are selling BREMTECH drilled/grooved discs for £57 each.
Anyone got any experience of whether these are a decent brand or not?

The LCR's front discs ARE 323x28mm, the Leon Cupra's are 312mm.

Those in the know say that drilled discs crack, even the ones with cast in holes have been known to crack.

Never tried the ones you mention though.

Sorry to hijack, but....

Would proper brembo drilled disks crack, as this is next moths perchase for me?

Thanks

I had drilled Brembo discs for a while and even after a few trackdays there were no signs of cracking at all, I've had 2-piece Tarox drilled on the rears for 2 years and 4 trackdays, zero cracking.

The whole cracking thing is a bit of a myth, unless the discs are really cheap and nasty, but then what do you expect. You'd have to hammer the sh*t out of them constantly to make good quality drilled discs crack - i.e. trackdays every weekend. Porsche, Aston Martin, etc. wouldn't use drilled discs if they just fell apart as easily as some people suggest.

I've seen some monster Supras, Skylines, etc. with drilled discs, as long as they are a reputable make such as Brembo, AP, Stoptech, etc. then they should be totally fine for everything other than constant track abuse.

That Bremtech site looks pretty crappy with lots of incorrect info - I wouldn't buy brake discs from there - your life depends on your brakes, don't skimp on them!!!

Didn't think the BREMTECHs were much cop. Ta.

One further thing anyone seen the new ROSSINI titanium/magnesium drilled/grooved discs? Again Anyone know if they are ok? To be honest if they are using materials like that they cant be that bad, can they?

LCR brake size

I am certain the LCR front discs sre 312mm not 328. They are the same as those on the Audi TT and they are the same size.
I am prepared to be corrected but I recently bought some, as mine were badly worn and they were sold to me at 312 mm and fitted perfect.

Yep, unless you have an import LCR with 17" wheels and no Brembo calipers on the front, the LCRs front discs are definitely NOT the same as the TT's

Better check what you have on at the minute, I bet the 312's will "fit" but the pads will be overhanging the disc and I think they're a different thickness.

Oh blast. Looks like the site I got mine from have given me the wrong size discs. They did actually advertise them as being for the Cupra R and not the Cupra.
Cheers, I shall be having words.

If you check car parts direct they list the cupra r as having 312 mm discs, the little tinkers!

I have just managed to got a set of Grooved Brembos off ebay. Pair of fronts and Red Dot Fast Road pads for £191 delivered! YEAH!!!!!! :D They bit so much better than standards.

BTW LCR disc size is 323 x 28 all companies think they are 312 [:@]

Back to the drilled discs debate!

I had a set of drilled Zimmerman discs on my Scirocco, and my mate had the same on his VR6 Corrado, and we both had no issues with them at all, I found them to be an improvement over standard, with reduced fade, no evidence of cracking in 20,000 miles.

Just my 2 pence!

I now have a set of 323mm drilled brembo discs up front. The 312mm discs I had before may explain the slight clonk when braking from forward into reverse and vice versa as the pads were hanging over.
Still bedding them in so cant tell how they are yet.

They are from the GT kits the Golf guys buy as the kit (Calipers etc).

The guy who is selling them works for RedDot Racing (Brakes) that is why he is selling with REDDOT pads.

Really nice bloke, I emailed him alot. He only have 5 sets of Drilled and 4sets of Grooved.

And yes they are Genuine Brembos, they came in a brembo box and they have all the markings.
