Broken Dump Valve?

Okay so I bought the car fitted with a Forge Recirc valve already on - after fitting an open come filter it gave of a not overly loud wooosh noise. Great. But me and my mate suspected it was leaking.

He had a look at it and said it should of been fitted the other way around.. But no instead of a woosh I get a high pitch blow off, almost like a firework sound.

Healthy or not healthy? Here's how it's fitted at the moment.

i cant see your pictures but the boost goes into the side with the bottom going into the tip

It's fitted in reverse, it will work like that it just sounds different, hence the firework sound. Some people prefer it that way.

Ah, so could it be leaking when fitted properly?

The whooshing is probably more to do with the open cone. If it's holding boost as normal I'd say it's ok

The dv or the cone. The way it's fitted in your pics is ok but you can switch it back the other way. If the car is boosting just the same I wouldn't worry. The open cone will add a lot of airflow whooshing, that's probably what you are heading and it will amplify the turbo spool and dv sound

No it won't be leaking if it was the other way, it would either leak or it won't, most DV are fitted the other way so the charge pipe comes in from the side and it vents into the tip from the bottom port and vac hose pointing up,

Well when I had it properly it never used to pull properly, boost would drop a bit then come back whereas the other way it stopped

any idea what spring is in it? because if your car is mapped and its still got the green spring in that could be the cause of you loosing boost

Yellow. That's like 15-30 or something right?

yeellow is 15-23 so it should be fine yeh

This is how it's staying now, was adamant there was a boost leak from there though. Weird.

I also get like a 'shhhhhhh' sound when the boost pressure builds up and I don't when the valve is in reverse.

maybe its just the photo but it almost looks like theres a split in your tip

mmm yes it does look its got a split doesn't it! good spot.

Excuse my ignorance but is that the bit out the top?

TIP= Turbo intake pipe. Its the big pipe that runs below the recirc valve.

the small pipe that runs from the top of the DV is a vac pipe that helps the DV open when required.
