Oh ok cool didnt realise, all the guides ive seen are custom made ones. Seemed far to much hassle and unreliable so I did these instead last year.

Turns out my drlr2 had not actually failed but the splice clip to the sidelight had come loose and broke the wire. Repositioned and all sorted. Recieved the item from rob today. The only disadvantage to the drlr2 is that the inside isnt sealed in resin and the resistors etc are exposed from the underside of the casing. To prevent water contamination I have actually purchased a kinder egg and put the relay in the plastic tub. The relay fits into it very well when shut and the wires can be connected after being placed through the hole. Works a treat

As per my PM, there is resin in the DRL module but part of the resistor is not covered to allow air flow however it's still protected by the protective heat shrink. Like with most electrics, best to keep them out of water! Lol

Just wanted to make it clear to people that my comments above were not intended as insulting and were said in good faith. I was not trying to put the product down as if you need a drl module then this is probably the best one ive seen that is available right now

With regards to putting it in the kinder egg tub for water protection, this is not due to the resistor being visible (as this is covered by the heatshrink but can just be seen inside) it is cos my scuttle panel had soaked my soundproofing and the top of my drlr got wet.

No offence taken by the comments at all, at the end of the day the comments from customers are the only way to improve a product. I have now improved it further by applying additional resin to cover all parts. One thing I noticed from doing the BTCC DRL install was to locate the module next to the passenger headlight as it stays dry and is also easy to access should it be required.

As for my module, I've now nearly run out of them on eBay however I'm expecting more stock in shortly!

Haven't tried with those linea r vents as they have more of a mesh, so it's harder to hide the wires etc.

I looked into production but setup costs are ridiculous. Not worth it.
Your best bet on those grills is to get some cheap LED strips and stick them to the back of the mesh, instead of separate bulbs.

Also, adding to what Patrick has said, the mesh doesn't run straight, as in the holes will be off if you wanted to add bespoke DRLs behind. the 'Eagle eyes' would work but you would have to remove the caps and reapply them with some natural cure silicone or replace with glass cabochons.

Not sure if you made your own but I used eagle eye drl's from ebay. Purpose built and simple to fit as just bolt onto grill.

Hi Stuey, I've ordered some eagle eye drls and was wondering how you wired yours up?
Also, do yours dim once headlights are on?

Hi, mine is wired from the fuse box with a piggy back fuse connector. This runs a wire through dash board into engine bay to the genlabs drlr2 relay, which is behind my headlight. From memory this runs positive and negative to both sides of the car. I then connected the 3 led's on each side together with butt connectors which plug into the wires from drlr2. One wire from drlr2 cuts into side light or dipped beam whichever you choose so that the led dims with the chosen light. I put mine into side light so it dips with them incase ever parked at night. One other wire goes to earth point on bodywork.

Led's go on and off with ignition.

I'm sure there are instructions somewhere on this forum if you search drl's. You will definitely get them with the drlr2 relay which is what controls everything and allows the lights to dip to make them legal at night. Drlr2 had 5 wires I think. Power from ignition, earth, positive and negative to led and sidelight connection.

Depending on which Drlr you get some go on and off with indicators etc so may have additional wires.

All this is from memory and I did it a couple of years ago. Hopefully it will help. I Can dig out instructions if need be.

Last I heard is genlabs went out of business, but if you pm Robthebubble on here, he is the light guru. He makes the relays so will supply you one with instructions for wiring.

Many thanks for the detailed reply! Much appreciated.
I did a quick search on ebay for "drl relay" and quite a few listings came up at decent prices so one of them should do the trick?

Like yourself, I have ordered x6 eagle eye drls, so that'll be 12 wires in total coming off them, what's the best way to keep them together and connect to the relay? You mentioned butt connector?
Apologies for the noob questions, first time im doing something like this so want to get it right. Will have a friend who's good with car electrics helping me out but I prefer to know the theory myself before hand :D

Connect all negatives one side together and crimp a butt connector on. Then crimp other end of butt connector to the wire from the relay. Do the same for the positive on each side also.

Use a scotch block connector to splice onto the side light wire, it keeps it neat and simple.

The hardest part is getting the wire from the fuse box through to the engine bay. Takes a metal coat hanger and a lot of patience.
