Budget puts car tax up

The BBC has details of the new car tax bands.

According to carpages a standard 1.8T (180 bhp) puts out 204 g/km of CO2, which will stick us in band F paying £190 for our tax, up from £165 :( . Cupra R puts out 211 g/km so in the same band.

Dunno when it comes into force, but glad I just got a year of tax with my new motor!

£125 for the FR TDi then

By my reckoning it's £110. carpages says 146 g/km, which just squeezes you into band C at £100, but it says you have to add £10 for diesels. Of course they could be wrong, anyone got the official figures?

Not bl**dy likely mate - i'm finding new ones everyday, and I have to change lanes on the m27 at certain times to avoid them!

why do u think i'm looking at emigrating eh?
Trouble is government's all over the world are almost the same.....
Canada is the one appealing to me still - went to a show in Sandown last weekend ref. emigrating - lots of info buzzing around my head now, and holiday to Canada in the pipeline ;)

Anyway, back on topic - bloomin tax! But then, at the end of the day, the tax on higher output/pollution cars is fair IMO - I choose to drive a car like mine so its only fair for generations to come.

However, farmers and the like with their 4x4's won't like it, and it'll probably mean the cost of their produce (fruit/veg) increases so we, the consumer, regardless of car size, pay the price anyway :censored:

yes, it comes under alternative fuel, and you get £10 off your Tax, but you can get a grant for the fitment of it and supposedly better fuel economy althoug recent tests have shown this to not be as econmical as first thought.

Nice to see they load the premiums by a tenner for Derv owners though, makes the extra 20p or so a week worthwhile when I see the smokescreen behind a remapped TDI! :D
