burning plugs out

problem! 2000 arosa 1.0 burning plugs out for fun. had a diagnostic done, came up with a fault on the 'pot meter'. does anyone out there know what it is, where it is, and what it does, seat and vw have no idea!

It might be related something to the engine compression ? Might be too low - Could be horribly wrong though.

Could it be to do with the MAF (air flow meter bit) causing the engine to run lean - I've heard that can damage plugs.....

What does the engine sounds like when its running and accelerating? Is it relatively smooth or do you have alot of noises?
