Hi All.

I currently own a 1.6 VW Bora and its getting a little boring, so have decided to go for a Seat Leon 1.9 110 SE.

I was wondering if i chip a 110 BHP, will it make it as quick as the 130bhp, or just increase torque and not a lot of top end speed? Also, is it really worth me spending the extra on the insurance for a 130?

I have around £7500 to spend, and bear in mind im only 19 so cant go for anything to stupidly quick. Also, where can i find a 110 and 130 horse version, as im finding it very very hard.

Thanks for your help

The 110 are cheaper, but the 130bhp are around 6k+ it all depends on the condition and mileage

Milage needs to be below 60,000 miles and want a good one. Would you say its worth buying a 110 and having it chipped?

I have a leon 110 which is chipped by upsolute, I wanted the 130 when I bought it new but wasn`t available at the time. It goes really well chipped, I have a 130 ibiza too which is a slightly different drive. It has an initial surge up to 2000 rpm where the Leon 110 is smoother right through chipped. I have to say both engines are bullet proof, the 130 is slightly quieter, not so rough sounding plus the six speed box is great, but you can`t be as lazy with it by idling it say round junctions/roundabouts in 3rd, you need second, or first when slow. Also 6th is no good unless you are doing over 50/60, that said 90mph plus the 130 is cruising with lots to spare where the 110 starts to get noisier up to 100+. The oil is much cheaper on a 110, the insurance probably too(if you keep quiet about the Chipping) That said IF you plan to chip the 130 it would be a beast in comparison.

Yes, throughout the revrange. It transforms the 110 into an easier car to drive really, there is much more torque. It seemed to pull at much higher revs than before where it used to start dying off. Not that you need to rev it high to make decent progress. 110 chipped makes roughly 143 bhp against 130 where the torque will almost match the 130,( 215 lbs aginst 229 on the 130) (upsolute figures)obviously these figures will slightly differ depending who does it and each car is slightly different. If you plan to chip it I would steer clear of superchips etc and go for one of the companys recomended on here, revo/customcode are probably the best so they say:shrug: but are around £400/450 where there are some around £300 which like upsolute seem perfect to me for the money, they all specialise in either vag or tdi cars.

Well, im going to keep looking around for a leon as i aint seen any at the moment for around £7500. But i normally travel on motorways at around *cough cough* 100mph so want something which can easily do this.

I may just go for the 110bhp and chip it!!

Anyone know where i can look for a leon 110bhp SE with climate control etc for around £7500 with below 60,000 miles as im finding it hard!!!

Thanks

*Also what speed have you had out of your chipped leon 110bhp top end?
