So when my TIP was changed it looked as though I had slight damage to the fins.
Having had the exhaust done last week, I was informed there is quite a bit of play in the turbo!
All signs it's on the way out.
I'm not keen to map the car and have the turbo pop and spit metal rough my engine.
I've thrown good money at the car so don't want to ruin it or have huge bills to sort it all out if the turbo fails.
A new turbo is on the cards.
Where are the best places to source a new turbo?
Are they all stock items or are some better than others? ( better bairing etc)
What about recon versions? I was thinking new is surely best?
I understand I can't put a hybrid in without supporting mods. So does that make it a bog standard part.
So will a turbo I buy be the same from any turbo developments company or does it come down to the best firm building them in house with best reputation that I should be looking into?
It's Sod's law that is has happened as I gave my turbo the kiss of death a couple of months back, when I put in writing on here, that I had never had turbo problems before!!!
Look at me now!!
Any info you guys have and past experiences would be great to hear.
Thanks Sparkie

I'd say just get a like for like OEM Borg Warner turbo. Just shop around for the best price.

+1 and make sure it is from a reputable seller, plenty of chinese copies around!

I know bill@badger5 does the cores, he can probably source you a whole unit too.

I nearly got caught by a seller from Germany, looking closer it became clear that it was a chinese seller running it through Germany. Not all chinese gear is poor but some is.

Gap Turbos, Ivor Searle, Universal Turbos have good names (Universal were on Wheeler Dealers helping Mike out with a new Turbo).

The biggest issue it seems is with poor fitting of the new and not allowing it enough good oil feed at the start. Budget for a new oil feed pipe as well, strongly recommend getting a flexy stainless steel braided, got mine from MLR Racing for £30.

If you want new then Darkside can supply.

Thanks for that. Braided oil feed sounds a good idea.
I'll check Darkside too

Also try BTN turbos, they sell original equipment parts from the manufacturer. Sometimes they can do remanufactured parts, also from the turbo manufacturers themselves (Borg Warner, Garrett, etc).

Picked up my oem borgwarner from turbo dynamics a few thousand miles bk
