Hi guys,
I have just registered on the forum and wanted to say HI!! :p

I am an ex-impreza prodrive owner but am now a family man so am after something a bit more economical on my pocket, but still able to give me big smiles when needed!! :D :D

Finances are a bit tight now, so I was thinking of an early Leon Cupra (180bhp) at around the £5-6k mark??
As I know absolutely nothing about the Leon, do you guys think I am being realistic in my search? :help:
Also, is there anything I need to look out for when looking at these cars? I noticed some of them have full leather interior and some even have electric seats with drivers seat memory!! Is this a uk standard option or import only (I do not want an import).

Sorry for all the questions, but any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks guys

Early 2000/1 Leon's built at teh same factory as the Golf were called Cupra's - had full leather & ESP - these should be bang on the money for what you want

Then they made them cheaper, took out the ESP & Leather, and built them in spain. These also are on the money (if not a bit cheaper) - oh and called them 'Sport' rather than Cupra (but still slapped Cupra badges on them)

Just to add more annoyance, you can get a Sport with Leather.

In 2003 they facelifted the car with teh Cupra 4 bumper, previously only available on LHD 2.8V6 models [import only]

I wouldn'ty be put off buying an import, they're the same. It's not like in Japcrap world where all the parts are different & they rot because there's no underseal!

Take a look on fleabay, and autotrader, there's loads.

WOW!! Thanks for the info mOrk.

Just wondering how I will know if its a 'sport' or a 'real cupra' when I go to look at any (I take it they both look the same and have the same engine/performance)?

So just to confirm - the early non sport cupra's will ALL have leather and ALL have ESP??

Thanks again folks!

cupra has rain sens wipers and auto dim rear mirror. most if not all have leather.

Don't worry what its called SPORT or CUPRA they are they same car under the hood {see below} (just different electical toys)

some of the very early leons don't have VVT, check the engine code.

Hi I am a newbie too just looking for a bit of advise, Looking at buying a Leon Cupra 180BHP
Seen a 52 with 36000 for £8k with face lift.
Is it a good price had a look around and seems resonable ??
