Hi Guys :help:,

I am a noob on here and am after a Leon MK1 but am still undecided on wether to buy a Cupra 20v Turbo (grunt/power) or a Diesel motor (MPG/power).

I have recently sold my Golf TDI and fancy the Leon but unsure as to which model to go for.

Also, please can you advise on what to look out for when viewing these cars.
I really fancy one in black ([B)] best colour) but will consider other colours if the car fits the bill (but noy yellow or red - i hate these colours ).

I looked for stickies on buying guides but dind tcome up with much so please do feel free and advise away.

Thanks

I've been a massive diesel fan over the years and was really weary of moving back to petrol, but the 1.8T engine is fantastic. So much power and roughly 30mpg on an average commute. I love it!

Buy a Cupra 20VT!

Thanks for the info/advice.
I should have mentioned that my maximum budget is £3500 and so a TDi FR+ is out of the question sadly.
I'm looking at a Leon Cupra finishing on Ebay within the next 24 hours and will see how my bidding goes on that so wish me luck.

I got a Leon TDi SE 110, love it... get like 50+ MPG, and the power is awesome.

Got mine with 92k on it, 51-plate, excellent condition for £3,500 inc p/x on my fiesta, with 12 month MOT, 6 months tax, and 6 month warranty.

M-way turn of speed is great... more over taking power than I've ever had before!

But I have come from Chinquentto's and Fiestas... lol... 1.0L and giving it all I got!!

sounds like you got a fab deal there.

The Cupra 20v Turbo I have my eye on does have the later style bumpers and has been lowered so hopefully not too much modding required.

My boys aged 5 and 8 and my missus are both demanding that I buy a petrol car and not a diesel cos they miss the exhaust note :D
Boys are mad car fans and have been to Santa Pod on numerous occasions and last time I paid for them to go for a spin in the drift cars and they loved it.

Anyways, fingers crossed for tomorrow. i'll keep you posted on how I got on with the bidding.

I went to visit relatives yesterday on a 200 mile round trip on various roads, single country roads, dual carraigeways & a bit of motorway. I must say what a excellent car these are, I cannot praise them enough, even though my right foot was pressing down far too much & I was shifting!!!! I still averaged 32 mpg (Tesco Super Unleaded).....quality ride out !! :D

i didnt win the auction but the guy who was selling the car contacted me yesterday and said the winning bidder is messing him about and wont pay/collect for another 2 weeks so i have the option of buying it now - me then feeling like this :D  then he mentions the dump valve had been changed to a baileys one and this has caused the engine management light to come on - me now feeling like this :( as my bro has the vagcome software, we are gonna check for fault codes before parting with any cash. does anyone know what codes to be wary of?

also, why isnt there a sticky on buying guides?

gonna go tomorrow or wednesday evening to have a look at the car and will report back.

she is a 53 plate, with FSH, 18" black dotz wheels and looks similar to midgetgem's new motor.
