Hi. Newbie to this site, has already given me loads of useful info.

I was just hoping to find out from a few of you knowledgeable chaps if if it worth buying an Ex Category C Leon FR TDI Cupra.

it seems to be in good nick and has been MOT'd and a VIC check done.

i was also wondering if this car is standard, because it has the Cupra R bodykit, which id the one i want, and i dont know if this was ever a standard on the Cupra TDI's

what sort of price should i be looking at considering it is Cat D.

44,000 miles.
18" Cupra alloys.
Full Seat Sat nav System.
HID kit
Re-map

and all the usuals.

I would really appreciate any help, because it is pretty much a checklist of the car i would love to have. so i just need to guage if it is ok/worth it.

Thanks muchly.

About 60% of market value, there worth about 50% of normal trade in value if you ever wanted to trade it in.

Also depends what was wrong with it and the quality of the repairs.

thanks very much for the quick response.:D

Well the guy is wanting £7500 for it as he didnt know that the car had ever been Category C?

He seems really genuine and has said that he originally did a cheap text check HPI on the car.

What you think to that valuation.

60-65% of market value

What is going price for one?

Just remember if you ever tried to trade it in most garages would not take it and the ones that would would not offer very much for it.

The Reg is 53 and it was first registered Dec' 03

Well Parkers is saying that the standard value is £6245 is good condition from a private seller(with around 60,000 on the clock)

so the mileage is a little lower on this one...

Bit of a no brainer then isnt it .......

Wouldn't touch it for over a grand more than book price......should be a lot cheaper not more expensive.

Yep, this is what i thought.

What sort of price do you guys think would be acceptable considering the parkers guide price and the fact it is Cat C

You've already been told in the first post!

£5k is where I'd draw the line.... tough titties on the guy that you'd be buying it from

Ok, sorry. just wanted to get a definitive answer.

I know this is probably going to be the same answer... but here goes..

i know that usually mods dont add value(or sometimes decrease it)

but the car has an uprated clutch and a new turbo(non hybrid)

it also has the Seat Sat Nav system.

Are these things likely to add any value?

i would not be paying 7500 for a catd car.

could pickup a non cat lcr for that cash and there wouldnt be any worries on quality of repairs etc etc.

why you set on this one for silly money

i woudnt pay more than 5k for it, event then id be wary of it.

Not enough value to pay over the odds for the car....

He's asking book value for a car, that's not worth it.

Someone (probably him) has bought it as scrap & repaired it & wants to sell it for a profit.

That's like buying a TV from comet that someone dropped, but paying full price... You just wouldn't do it.

Ok then everyone, seems pretty good idea to avoid it. The guy wont move on the £7500 price.

So definitely not worth it.

There is another that i was looking at which is the Leon FR TDI.

it is going for under £7000

the one thing i was wondering is that with 86K on the clock are there going to be any problems/what are the life expectancies on the engine and what can be changed to prolong it?

Also how much would it cost to get the Cupra R Bodykit to replace.

One other thing to really show off my lack of knowledge. does the FR have an FMIC?

Thankyou for your patience.

(should i move this to a new thread or change the title?)

86 k is nothing if got fssh

cupra r kit will be near on a grand to buy, fit and spray properly.

fr doesnt have a fmic no.

you say 7k, but no stats, id just go round, what car, parkers, glasses and get what it should be worth and use that for a guide. mods dont matter, wont increase value, unles it has maybe ihi or big turbo conversion. event then id stay away unless you knew where it had been done.

Well it's actually in the for sale section of this site.

I cant post the link due to my small amount of posts, but it is in the for sale section as "2005 (05) Leon FR150 TDi with HUGE SPEC! 86k miles"

Looks like a really good car, some opinions please?

Well i just had a chat with the guy on the phone.

seems like a nice genuine chap.

said that the remap was done by a friend of his who works in N.I.
and was over doing other cars and got him to do the Leon.
he said that the clutch then started slipping due to this hence the new Sachs clutch.

You reckon maybe trying for £6500?

no idea of the guide price tbh mate, but ignore the mods in the price.

would still be a little apprehensive on the mapper.

but knock 300quid off and you could get it mapped by a forum sponsor for piece of mind

well the guide price for a good condition with around 40,000 miles is about 7,700, so i dont know how the mileage would effect it.

who would you recommend for the Remap because i have a Revo mapping place nice and close. but i hear that the Revo maps can give torque spikes?
