how easy is it to change this thing? where is it located?
does my car have one? i actually thought it was only newer car or ones with a/c that had this filter!
i dont ever recall being told this was replaced in any of my services, and was just wondering if its something i could pick up and replace myself?

It's under the scuttle panel at the bottom of the windscreen on the passenger side. You might need to take one of the wipers off.

It's very easy to change out.

thats where i was thinkin it was.
at the moment i am currently trying to locate a leak in the footwell and going to check where the clutch cable enters as i have been advised that is a likely suspect by the good people of this forum, so might get the two jobs done in the one go if i manage to get the wipers off!

i checked www.vwspares.co.uk and the pollen filter is £8.38 is this a decent price, it includes shipping to rep of ireland so id expect to pay a tad extra, but is that roughy what it costs? seen one on eBay and it was actually more expensive and i believe vwspares are a realible place to buy stuff.

Yeah I think vwspares have a decent reputation. Never read anything negative about them, anyway.

The rubber seal into the bulkhead can pop off or tear which lets water in - it then runs down the clutch pedal into the cabin.

I'm changing my clutch cable for that reason tomorrow, provided I can pick up the parts in Leicester.

I paid £3.28 4mine a few months ago from a good motor factor!just be carefull when u take the plastic of your scuttle pannle its real flimsy.
