Cam Belt and Brakes

Hey all, I recently just purchased a 2006 Seat Ibiza Cupra, and I can proudly say so far what an awesome car! Everytime I drive it, it puts a smile on my face, looks sexy in and out. I just have a few concerns about the car that I was hoping someone could help with :D

Before I purchased the car me and a friend checked over it for any work that it required. It needed new rear discs, pads, and other servicing things. But mainly needed a new cam belt, as it has 52k on the clock and pretty sure they are suppose to be replaced at 40? anywho!

Right so it's had a new belt. Been driving it a week. And every day when the engine is cold it makes like shhd shhd sort of noise as the cam belt is going around. So I took the aux belt off, ran it without it to check it wasn't that. It wasn't. So took the cam belt top cover off and soon found it definately was coming from there. The belt was new, it was a goodyear one, bit miffed why it wasn't a vw one. But it looked as though they hadn't replaced anything else, the tensioner definately didn't look new, and am I right in saying that when the cam belt is changed everything needs to be done as well? Someone mentioned to me even the water pump should be changed? not sure how true that is? I just want to find out what should actually be changed on it? I'm guessing VW sell it as a kit, not just the belt, which could explain the goodyear belt? I don't know. I did spray some WD40 on the belt and the noise calmed for now, but it will most definately come back.

Another concern is the front callipers and discs. They work perfectly, doesn't pull to one side, theres no chuddering, brakes generally well. But. Haha always a but ^^ When I push the pedal past the half way point, they creak and continue to creak all the way to the pedal touching the floor. (I haven't had to do this while driving yet haha but I noticed it when sat stationary). Was hoping someone with the same car could varify this is normal? Just the springy characteristics of the callipers? Just never heard it before.

The car does have 3 months warranty or 3,000 miles so I can hopefully get it sorted, just a bit bummed about buying it and worrying about these problems.

Sorry for the epic story, and I know this is my first post but if all goes well with getting the car sorted, I plan to be a member for a long time! Thanks in advance, Vince.

brake peddle shouldn't be touching the floor, that's worrying! check the fluid level?

You definitely shouldn't have sprayed wd40 onto the belt, it will weaken the rubber belt and could snap even if it's just been replaced. I'd say you should fit a full new belt kit with tensioner and metal water pump impeller just to be safe.

Sorry shouldn't have said the pedal was touching the floor was an exageration for pushing down as far as I could. I checked the fluid level its fine and no sign of leaking. Not sure why its creaking? And its a petrol one, haha would help if I mentioned that :p I only sprayed a tiny bit of wd40 so shouldtn eat into anything I woudlnt have thought, and it was more directed at the tensioner. Hope not anyway :S Sounds like the best bet RW20VT, not worth the risk. I'll do it my self as I don't wont that garage to do it on.the cheap. Take it the engine mount just needs removing so its possible to get to everything. Thanks all
