i go down on sundays aswell and the odd weekday. yeah they look simple to do, they have only got one cam on thats probably why. Mine has just been done before i brought it so saved me a job anyway!

1 cam???

theres two cams mate, just one cam pully. chain on the other end of the cams! lol

Black_20V_Turbo: this is how i did it....

- remove engine cover
- remove hose from side of aux water pump, move it out the way
- remove vacuum pipe from inlet, move it out the way
- remove alternator belt
- remove alternator tensioner, 3 pins
- remove top timing belt cover, 3 clips
- remove middle timing belt cover, 3 pins
- remove wheel arch cover, 4 pins
- remove alternator belt pulley from crack pulley, 4 pins
- remove bottom timing belt cover, 2 pins

everything should now be exposed for removal

- obtain a 60mm long m5 pin and large m5 washer, compress the tenioner piston to slacken the belt.
- remove tensioner, 1 pin
- remove piston and roller, 2 pins
- remove water pump, 3 pins

- then fit the new parts as it is clear from the removal how things go back together!

- check timing marks

- tension the belt

- make sure the timing is bang on by turning the engine over by hand using a 19mm socket on the crank pulley bolt a couple of times, may be stiff from the compression in the cylinders.

- replace all covers and hoses

- fire in!

hope that was some use to you?

nothing too difficult

Sorry to drag up an old thread but can anyone recommend a good place to get a metal impeller water pump from (as well as the cambelt kit)?

Looking over this thread it looks like TTS and ECP? Just has to be a metal pump that's all and I'm aware these are non genuine

TIA, Rob
