Hi all, had Stoke Seat ring me to inform me of the Major Service and MOT for my March 2010 143 SE ST Exeo due soon, I reminded him that as it's 4 years old the cambelt change is surely due, he replied that the VW Group has changed it's policy to 5 years, he did not give the mileage figure but as mine has only done 16,000 it could wait another year. They quote £350 for cam belt change on all models (anybody had their Exeo done?) so a much lesser bill this time round>>>>>Julian

I had a similar message when my old Leon (with CR170) was in for its 3 year service, I asked if the cambelt would be due on the following service but they also said SEAT had changed it to 5 year intervals. I'm not sure how consistent the interval is across the VAG group, seems to be anything between 3-5 years for the same engine in my experience!

£350 is more expensive than they quote on their "it's fixed" servicing publication

£299. I haven't enquired to find out whether than includes the water pump which may well be why you've been quoted £350. Their publication also states 40k/4years old too, so the 5 year interval sounds new.

Also I would have thought with the engine being mounted longitudinally in the Exeo the cambelt job would be easier and maybe cheaper than on a transverse engine as found in the Leon.

Hi, just been on Seat uk, downloaded fixed price servicing and it quotes £299 for petrol and £369 for diesel cambelt. On my old A4 the front could be brought out into a service position to give more room to make the change easier, I cannot see this on the Exeo....Julian

cambelt intervals

Hi Guy's,

I picked my car up from the dealers last week, after some warranty work on the parking sensor system and said I would be back in November for the cambelt change. The service manager said that Seat had increased the time limit to 5 years from 4 years, to help spread the servicing cost's for owners.
However, the mileage interval remains the same 140000 for the diesel engines, and I have checked with Seat uk, that this mileage interval is correct.
My parents live in Spain, where there is no time limit, set by Seat, but just the mileage limit for cambelt replacement.

I stand corrected :) My local dealer website confirms the same pricing structure too.
