It's coming to that stage in my cars life soon when it'll need the cambelt changed! It's a Leon FR 2.0 TDI - how much should I be looking at for this to be done at the dealers?

Had my done at Total VAG in Leighton Buzzard and including the water pump it was about £500, dealers were £100+ more.

arrrggghhh! I was hoping it would be about £350! :( I'll be having it done at the same time as a service so I can add another couple of hundred quid on for that. Looks like my holiday will be a short one next year lol! :)

Got mine done at the independent dealer that I bought the car from for £322, which included tensioners/waterpump as well.

I'm from Rossendale, Lancashire but usually use the Lancaster dealers because they are always the cheapest and I work in Preston so just a 30 min drive up the M6. Preston were always about £80 more for services etc, hence my reason for not going there now it's out of warranty! :)

I always thought it was 60,000 miles, although i spoke to two Seat dealers and they said it is depends on the engine. They checked my Reg and mine came up as 80,000 miles.

Anyone confirm this?

Its a 2.0TDi 140bhp 55 plate.
Im going to get it done around summer next year, where i will be on about 70,000.

Some are 80k, some are 95k now so sounds likely.

Four year rule also applies.

I found out something very interesting on this the other day. My dad has a 140bhp 2.0TDI Passat Estate and he got a letter through the other day saying his cam belt needed changing at 30k miles or 4 years and they are doing a special offer price of £295 to do it all fully fitted. I thought not bad price but then started thinking eh? It needs a new cam belt already?????

Dunno if u can leverage some money off mentioning this offer maybe? Still think its whacky saying should be changed after such a short time tho :-(. 80k is more like it :D

They probably monitored the mileage at service intervals and followed that, but the 4 years is the relevant part. Or it could be that it's just a typo and they meant to put 60k miles (which is still incorrect btw, but dealers like to do cam belts early to generate more income).
