Cambelt parts

Im sourcing parts to do my Cambelt

vwspares have a cambelt kit consisting of

cambelt
tensioner
roller

and obviously i will buy the metal impeller water pump

My mate told me today that i also need

Cambelt/Tensioner Damper
Cam chain tensioner

Is this needed?? they dont come with the kit thats all

anyone know about the tensioner damper?

I notice theres a kit on vw spares with it and then another kit without it

Does the waterpump need doing everytime you do the belt or just upgrade to the metal propellor one?

The belt was 'done' only around 8k ago, according to the previous owner, I just want piece of mind whilst the engines out. Shall I do the pump or just leave it if it already has the metal one in?

Personally i would do the pump anyway if your doing the belt, would be gutting if it failed later on as youd have to do it all over again and as youll have your belt etc off it will be 5 minute job for the pump

think they are about £28 from euro car parts

Tbh im not sure

The garage who qouted me for the job did not mention the hydraulic damper so im guessing its just an optional part to change

Some garages can be funny about you supplying your own parts, if they let you then they probably wont be liable if anything goes wrong ie faulty part or something and you will be stumped!
