Ok, so driving home after work the car is sputtering & popping which I sensed was the TIP. Got home by taking it easy let the car cool down & I was right, TIP had slipped off the turbo end.

Did everything right & cut the pipe down a little as it's oftenly come off. I've double checked all pipes and all are fine & connected correctly.

Now here's the problem. Went to start the car & nothing, won't turn over one bit. Also after a few seconds of trying to turn over the oil light flashes in red. I plugged into vag com (free version) and no errors are highlighted!!

Any ideas would be great. Thanks

Ok well the battery seams fine and there's charge going to the fuel pump but no fuel is coming out to the fuel rail. The fuel pump relay seams to be fine as it's clicking when ignition turned on.

Really stumped!!! I understand the crank sensor stops the car from turning over but would this stop fuel being pumped???

Yeah it's a strange one, i take it you've checked the wiring to the starter motor? Checked that the battery connections are good and free from corrosion etc? Other than that then i guess cranksensor would be best place to start although as you said, you would of thought that it should throw a fault code.

Just thinking out loud really, because you've not got any other help yet, but could the oil light be flashing because the ECU expects the engine to start almost as soon as the key is turned, so it's flashing the light because the oil pressure it expects to see when the engine starts just isn't there?

It was the pump. We took it out and found it wasn't pumping so we stripped down and the pump came back to life. After a couple of turns it came to life but.......... I spoke to soon though, car not firing again :(

Pump is pumping fuel out but not going to the fuel rail so going to try filter next!!

blow thru the lines to confirm there is no blockage. blow at pump end check at fuel rail end

pump might be able to pump but if its with no pressure behind it it wont flow anything

Thanks for taking a look Bill :)

Forgot to update this before I emailed you. We checked the filter and fuel was being pumped through with no problems (we also changed the filter anyway)

So we then went to the engine bay and took the feed from this plastic unit (see pic) unsure what it is but fuel was pissing out of the feed pipe here which then leads to the fuel rail.

The plastic thing is just where the fuel lines and vent pipes come from the tank. Those connectors on top are quick release type things, you can just squeeze them and they pop off. What part is leaking exactly? The pipe prior to the connector, The connector itself, Or the pipe between the connector and the fuel rail?

Nothing is leaking fella, just the car isn't starting but fuel is being pumped to those hoses and to the fuel rail when the ignition is turned but the car still isn't firing!!

Going to buy new plugs after work just to replace them but could the FPR stop the car from firing?

FPR controls pressure...

does rev counter move? rpm seen by crank sensor etc?
are plugs wet after turning over but not firing?

Rev counter does move a little when you turn the ignition Bill. Does that mean the crank sensor is fine?

Not yet checked the plugs, was going to change for new but I'll check if they are wet 1st after cranking. Will update later, thanks Bill.

If I didn't live to far away I would have brought it to you :)

Ok plugs are sparking fine and are bone dry so fingers pointing at the fuel rail, injectors or FPR

We took the FPR off just to check and re-inserted and the car nearly came to life but then didn't after cranking again.
