Nope, have looked for it but never found it. Have a feeling that its behind the instrument cluster/under the steering wheel.

I've just purchased a workshop manual....... hopefully this will tell where it is - as I don't really want to dismantle the dash if not needed!

I have found where the CAN Bus Gateway is in the 2007 Cupra...... :D

Take off the part infront of the diagnostic port.... move the wires & you'll see it, right at the back!

See the red head!

There's no way of getting to it easily, with out a lot of pain! It looks like the same place as the R32 & they can get to it via the engine bay! Hopefully the workshop manual I've ordered will show me if I can do the same!

Depends what you are reading off the Can, but there is a twisted pair on the quadlock connector on the rear of the radio. They are labelled up as 'Can H' and 'Can L'.

Wanting to have an updated Gateway as I'm getting RNS 510 & cos I've got a older module - it causes the clock to shift on the MFD!

Not a big issue, but if I can get access to it, I'll replace it!

jammy did you get to the canbus gateway is it a difficult job to get too? is it located in passenger footwell as i don't know where the point your talking about is

Underneath the light switches - take the panel off & it's right at the back, behind all the wires!

There's no way getting your hand to the back, if you could, you can't see anything!

I'm in the process of finding a way!!!

Jammy when you do find a way can you let me know and i'll see if i can change mine to sort my clock out. Have you bought the canbus yet? Do you need to get it coded when fitted

Will do!

I haven't got a new canbus yet, waiting to make sure I can get to it!

Yes, you'll need to recode it once fitted! Get yourself a vag-com, only £20 - loads of posts on them!

how much do the canbus cost and can local seat dealer recode it then?

I have just bought one so it had better be possible!

I paid £49 for a revision P off ebay

will you let me know if this works densil and if you get to it the way you put in the last post it doesn't look to bad to do lol........... And then what info i need to get the thing recoded is this a seat dealer job?

Looking at the workshop manual - it doesn't show a way to get to the gateway! Looking at it position in the car, any access would need to be lower down in the engine bay - unlike the R32..... but might be worth having a look?

So I see 2 options:

1. disconnect all the wiring looms in front / underneath the dash
or
2. remove the dash.

I can't get my rns 510 to show up on the mdf yet (waiting to try coding with a newer vag com - I hope it'll work). When I do get it to show up, I dont fancy doing either....... but the dash removal would be my way..... to risky playing the actual wiring looms!

What versions rns 510 have you got & what coding changes did you make?

Well, I have made progress, kind of!! I followed the R32 tutorial and it works (sort of). By removing the wipers and removing the trim at the back of the engine bay its possible to see the panel that the R32 tutorial refers to. Unfortunately accessing it is pretty well impossible because SEAT have appeared to have used adhesive on the trim between the windscreen and the engine bay.

However, I persevered and eventually managed to remove the three bolts holding the panel on (the far left one was a bit of a nightmare). Removed the panel and then pushed some insulation foam aside and low and behold the CAN bus gateway!!! (It was a bit of a Eureka moment!) Unfortunately due to the lack of access its very hard to remove the gateway and connector. I managed to remove the gateway from its holder although I stopped at that point before I had managed to remove the connector. Both my patience was wearing thin as well as the skin (at least what was left of it) on my arms! I am still awaiting to receive my new gateway so thought that there was little point in removing the connector until I have the replacement gateway.

I have saved my existing gateway coding on VCDS and will hopefully be in a position to fit the gateway as soon as it arrives in the next day or two. I will of course keep you updated if and when I make any further progress!

Cheers

Nice one...... when you get the new gateway, take some pictures & do a install guide as lots will want to do this! I'm gonna order my new gateway way.....once my new vagcom arrives!
