I think we've had this before and decided it wasn't doable unless you put in your own circuits.

In theory, I wonder if you could wire in a circuit from the door solenoids to the light switch - effectively using the door solenoid as another switch for the lights. But you'd need timers in there and all sorts.

I think someone did it on a leon but they used a light switch unit from an a6 along with the light sensor from the a6 - the automatic lights in the a6 meant this was doable? I think?

Pretty sure that the switch won't fit in a Leon. The rotary switch in the Golf is much larger and even if you removed the circular shroud at the front of that switch, the centre still won't fit the hole on the Leon light switch module.

I have just fitted this to my car you can make the switch fit

Yea the auto lights work really well, when u unlock at night it brings the front fogs on but I think there is a jumper thing on the unit u can change it to headlights.

And I put the sensor in my piller pod

The unit is easy to fit but you have to make the switch fit by cutting a Leon switch panel up.

Do you have to modify the actual dash at all? Or just buy a switch housing off ebay and modify it and fit?
Looks really good

Yea you do have to cut a small bit out the lower dash panel but you can replace that easy if you wanted to change it back. All you need to buy is a Leon switch panel and the kit it comes with the switch.
If you do it put some pictures up

Just bought one of these units myself. waiting for delivery now.

For the welcome home lights to work, do you need to connect a lead to a trigger source, like the indicator/hazard lighting wiring?

thanks

I think on the old units you did. I didn't have to on mine just plug and play
