Hi guys,

I previously posted about this warning beep that I had been getting before i started the my car, although thinking it was because of a low temperature I though nothing more of it.

However, as you can see in the video, the temperature is at 90 degrees (I had been out for a meal with the parents not so long ago) so I'm pretty sure it's not the temperature being too low/high so I'm a little concerned.

I've done countless searches with nothing seeming to match my car's symtoms, and having read the manual from cover to cover, finding the only mention of an "audible warning" being that of the low fuel warning this is my last resort!

Any help is greatly apppreciated!

Fill it with some more fuel, see if it happens then, but saying that mine beeps when the engine as just started, to warn me.
Never just left ignition on and "waited" tbh.

I usually have started it by then, but it does the same beep even after the engine has started, the beep has happen every time I've started the car since I picked it up last week, and that was with half a tank of fuel aswell :S

not sure mine beeps if the parking brake is left on with engine running / or try to pull of with it not fully released noticed when on rollers

Might try taking off the hand brake before starting then, that could make sense

Once the car is started the epc and eml both go out, as does the battery light

what temperature is showing on the computer?

does it do it every time you put the ignition on?

It would seem to be some sort of warning.. as you say you thought it was the temperature, (which is not a temperature thing anyway, its actually a coolant level warning, which i think bleeps 3 times which you refer to).
Have you checked all levels? including screen wash?

Temperature below the clock (outside temperature?) was about 14 degrees, engine temp was 90 degrees.

Beep occurs either if I wait for it to come on (like in the video) or after I start the engine; I'm unsure of whether the beep comes on when driving or not though.

Cheers for the help so far guys!

Check your coolant level, if its on scrape the temp probe inside the bottle with a knife or screwdriver to remove any scaling from the probe.

Shall try suggestions in the morning when I can actually see what I'm doing :)

Try to find someone with vagcom locally and scan for faults. with it being a warning beep it might have logged something.

Only things ive known to beep are..
low fuel
low windscreen fluid
coolant gauge - either on cold starts (dirty prongs in header tank) or overheating (120+ on the gauge)
Im sure theres others.
if you have the radio code you could try dissconnecting the battery for 30 mins , this should reset the ecu

seems an odd one.

if it was coolant related then the red temp light would come on, it could be the washer level as stated above and the light on the dash has stopped working so all you get is a beep.

mine beeps if leave the indicators on try that but mine soun more like when u leave you lights on and open the door like a repeating beep :funk:

Checked the coolant level, it's in between max and min, and the temp prongs are clean. I tried turning on ignition without handbrake on and still got the beep. Currently having a mug of tea whilst waiting 30 mins to reset ecu or whatever it does. My dad works next door to an Autohaus so he said he'll ask if they don't mind having a quick look.

tried everything suggested, so I'm gonna get my dad/mate to plug it into vagcom and see what it comes up with, there's no lights on the dash to accompany it so I'm hoping it's just something silly that I missed in the manual, or something else trivial

Looking at this from the other direction, the items that cause beep at startup are

Coolant level - but that's three beeps not one
Fuel level - but your gauge is showing a good level and the light isn't on
Brake wear indicator - the light isn't on, but it might be worth checking your brake pads in any case, and the connection to the sensor.
Seat belt warning. Perhaps the seat belt switch is dodgy?

Dad checked pads and sensors when he changed the cambelt yesterday (and the beep was present before the cambelt was changed), and wouldn't the seat belt light pop on aswell as a warning?
