By the way ive got a standard sport 130, but i can't really hear the turbo from within the cabin which, i know sounds a bit sad but i wanted to hear it blow a little bit lol. Ofcourse when the window's down i can hear it whistling away

check out the MK4 FAQ section and find the sticky thread about the PD160 intakes and green panel filters for the 130 engine, i done a little step by step guide for anyone wanting do it, nice little mod gives a bit more whistle and frees up the revs a bit, i've got the same engine you have only in a FR model so differant gearing is pretty much the only differance other than cosmetics, and i'd recomend doin this to anyone.

any of u chaps got a remap on your tdis? just wondered what they are like. I know i cud do a searh but just wanted some new views

lots of people have remap on here matey most of the petrol boys tend to go for Revo, but the diesel map has a bit of a torque spike at 2000rpm which can cause clutch issues ie slipping. i heard good things about Custom Code same sort of gains you get with Revo but smoother torque curve lower down, they have there own little page on this site same as revo. but i'm thinking more along the lines of CC myself in the new year.

Mate without your post i would not of known and probably gone and got revo as they supply it down the road at aldon automotive. So clutch slipping hey, that sounds sh**e! Umm wonder where my nearest custom code is ??? All petrol heads can go on about how there engines rev and how they have bigger top ends blah blah, that don't mean a thing a dervs torque will just blow them away in the mid range, thats real world driving im afraid as i proved the other night against a more powerful petrol lol!

James Heath remapped my TDIsport to 165bhp. I decided to go for the middle setting so as not to destroy my clutch. Don't get me wrong the power is awesome, but I can't help wondering what 180bhp feels like!! -Thing is though the tyres already spin so can't imagine how bad they'd be at 180bhp!

Revo is alright as long as your very careful when you boot it, and to me that takes the fun aspect out of driving, having to worry what RPM your at so you don't slip the clutch
you can still have clutch troubles with custom code but it's less likely due to a much smother torque curve at 2000rpm, and as it's been said to me loads of times it's all depends on how you drive and how the car was driven by previous owners

Thanks for the graph, so basically ure saying remaps in general are gonna cause clutch slippage, that seems a bit odd? y do they create code that causes this? if i knew my clutch is gonna slip, there is no way im gonna get my sport remapped, unless theres a map out there which didn't cause this??

Factory PD TDI clutches are well known to be crap and will quite often slip when in cold weather even without a remap. Do a search mate and you will have hours of reading. If your going to get your car remapped and drive it hard you are more then likely going to need an uprated clutch fitted at some time. If your not going to drive your car hard then don`t bother getting it mapped.

lol well devil i rag all my cars to bits, love going quickly, so i guess a remap will defo happen. By the way notice uve owned derv beezas, ive just been for a qucik drive and noticed a slight vibration from the engine, when i got home just now i sat in it and felt nothing. Is this because the engine was cold?? lol never had a car when travelling at 40mph in 4th, put my foot down and overtook 2 cars in a row!

The vibration will be coming from the plastic boost pipe knocking on the fuel pump, nothing a bit of sponge inbetween them both wont solve or do a searchy, its a common fault on the mk4

oh in that case maybe not, as it used to do it to mine under load, above 1500 rpm to maybe 3k. If its at standstill aswell, could possibly be vibration through the gearbox/clutch area, how many miles has the car done?

has done 50k, bought it thursday. U know i think its cause ive never owned a diesel car and its just the fact that they vibrate more at tickover than petrols do

Yeah there is that possibility,but also it could be the DMF being shagged, possibly take it back to where you got it and ask them to check it over.
