When using Waze connected to Android Auto via USB, I'm being frustrated by the non-existent volume control of the spoken directions

The first part of the directions is at a comfortable volume, followed by the second part which is shouted out at an uncomfortable level.

Something like this:
"At the next roundabout TAKE THE SECOND TURNING"

Using the steering wheel volume control, or the volume control on the head unit while the directions are being spoken has no effect.

I've tried turning all the possible relevant volume controls down under the cars settings menu with no effect

And on the app - settings / voice & sound is turned right down.

I don't think she likes me.

Am I missing something obvious, or do I have to abandon AA and just use the app with my phone in a cradle?

Thanks

Google maps occasionally does this on mine too. Haven't found a reason for it or a solution.

When using Google Maps via the infotainment system the directions are given (randomly) by 2 different voices, one female & one male, at different volumes. On a 3 hour journey only about 20% were in the (louder) male voice.

Hi. Late reply so you might have already sorted this out.
Same problem for me and the only way I've figured to change the AA/Waze/Google Maps volume is to press the Voice Control button (the one that looks like a person's head) on the steering wheel. Then drop the volume with the little dial thingy on the wheel, the same as you'd control radio volume.

As you're adjusting the volume, in the top left of the dashboard display you'll see the volume bar dropping but also with the image showing of the same icon as on the button you first pressed. That's on my dash anyway which has the digital cockpit, in the Leon ST 2.0tsi.

Then once done exit back out of the voice control from the main screen in the dashboard.

Don't know if that's clearer or more confusing!

I had a 300 (67) a couple of years ago and now I've got a 290 (69) and waze has done this on both. The volume does sometimes work for me but you have to catch the voice prompt immediately or it just changes the normal volume. It's such a strange problem that I've never been able to fix so I'll keep an eye on this thread hoping someone knows.

Yep. Same. Pressing the button on the wheel for voice control and then adjusting volume does the same as if you actually managed to catch the voice prompt. You'll see the vol level in top left of digital dash.
Then press X on the main screen to come back out.

OP here, no I didn't solve the problem with Wase, i just use Google maps instead which is fine. But I will give this a try though, as Wase has features G maps doesn't.
It was occurring in Mrs Mustard's FR, so no digital dash but should still work in the same way. Plus I've now got myself a Cupra 290 with d/d so thank for the info.

Maybe adjusting the voice control volume in settings would work also.
Oh yeah, that's the same as fiddling about pressing the button on the steering wheel and dialling back the volume.
I just never looked in that menu before so I learnt something new here.
