They have made the units impossible to hack now. It was probably intended in mib2 but they left too many backdoors open. Now they have closed them with mib3.
Not for you but they have sealed off the hobbyist hacking in mib3 which is what they wanted to do. Vag equipment, licenses paid then access granted since they have a money stream.
Sorry guys for ghosting you, I had a small vacation. Tried the simplest, OBD11 activation, didn't work. The guy didn't look like he knew what he was doing anyway.
Dealers don't order FECs, they order activation documents/activation information. Once entered within ODIS, the information is sent to the mothership and it's then determined if the license information is applicable to the vehicle.
If the license information is applicable, the mothership generates a FEC, transfers to the module and then performs the basic setting along with any configuration changes. The information is then recorded against the vehicles build data and the relevant PR code(s) are changed.
