ok was driving into local town yesterday and got a mile in, and i lost 1st and second gear without warning

no noises or anything like that and now lost those gears, others are fine so managed to get it back home for now but need to call the garage about it

dad reckons it could be a pin or something, just wondered if anyone had idea's on the cost of it being fixed at all?

decided that i am getting rid now anyway, second thing like this in uder 2 weeks as power steering pump went tha time. getting mk1 leon cupra tdi to replace it anyway

I had a similar problem, my linkages were worn and 1st and 2nd gear were a pig to get in.

In doing this, one night i changed from 1st to 2nd and then up to 3rd. the gearstick became light and would not move left or right, just up or down. Turns out i had broken a pin by forcing it a bit too much into gear and it would not come out of 3rd. Yours sounds like linkages though.

My mate's corolla has just had the same problem as you, linkage problems everywhere it seems.....

spoke to the garage and its a new gearbox i am afraid:(

hopefully will be sorted quickly, garaged has sourced a new gearbox from a breakers yard for 250notes and it should then be the labour on top and that will be the bill for it

just getting sick of it now, sooner i get rid the better

That's lucky,

I ordered a reconditioned one, cost me £618 all in. then fitting. Yeah it came with a guarantee, but given the chance of a cheaper alternative i would have took it.
