Car keeps calling breakdown number over and over

Anyone have the car calling breakdown over and over …. I think this is different to SOS error - this is call Breakdown assistance and no lights on dashboard just infotainment saying "Making a call with Cancel button"

When I first had car it did this a few times - just try’s over and over to call Cupra breakdown - most of the time it fails before connecting and reconnecting - sometimes it gets through but then drops again.

Only way to stop is to turn off car and hope it fixes itself. Anyone know a way to stop it?

Have latest 1940 software for a while and only started doing again a week ago .. so frustrating.

It is now booked into be looked at - but chances are it won't present itself to a garage as intermittent. And it isn't till October 4th.!!! If wanted a replacement car it was November!

Is there away to disable this feature. I don't care about it at all. I will try and get a video of it but always driving when it happens sigh.... is it using my phone to make call or is it using the inbuilt SIM.. I assume it is inbuilt one. Just wondering if I disable that somehow?

I don't have this issue but it sounds awful.

There are two capacitive buttons forward of the SOS button for Information call and Assistance call. Maybe these are faulty. Dealership needs to find out what's causing it.

There is an option to supposedly disable the eCall system in the driver assistance menu, but it will reset ON every restart. I'm sure this doesn't actually disable the SOS system in the event of a collision, but possibly stops the other buttons for Information call and Assistance call - I don't know!

These stupid SOS systems are legal requirements for car manufacturers so don't expect any form of disabling it's function.

Sounds horrible, I didn't even know there was an Assistance button , the spanner button, yes? It's totally of no use after 2 years in the UK in any case unless you can renew. My roadside assist ran out in June but I didn't know until I called them via mobile when my 12v battery died!

Bad enough having the SOS emergency calls. Hope this isn't another issue to contend with

My roadside assistance is included for 3 years from new, on a VZ2 310. Had it confirmed twice now with different dealerships.

I have the same issue and did manage to record it. My car was booked in for earlier this week but I was to unwell to take the car in. The trouble with it being intermittent is it can go days without doing it and never leaves a fault code in the memory

You can renew the roadside assistance by booking a service with a SEAT dealer (although check as some such as Arnold Clark don't participate).

Since I booked it in - It has not done it again... typical... I have not cancelled booking though in case it does it again. If it doesn't leave any trace of fault code not sure what i can do!

Fricking spoke to soon! it did it again today

Here is a video of fault as it happens it is shot in portrait so you can see haptic panel near interior lights and screen

Video of fault

God it is so frustrating when happening...I have tried rebooting screen and doesn't make a difference.. the weird thing for me is how it keeps cycling through Car link when it is doing it.. not sure if that is in-built SIM taking over so Carplay not getting chance to connect.. Can't work out a rhyme or reason :-(

Crikey me, that's bad! I'm not surprised you find it frustrating, it'd drive me mad!
On the bright side at least you now have a video of it to show the dealer. Hope they can sort it for you 🤞

If I had to guess from that random behaviour, there must be a bad ground involved somewhere. I hope they sort it.
Well last night I whacked the soft touch Haptic buttons .... made no difference... so frustrating... Faulty ground sounds a nightmare scenario to find!

Out of curiosity, has it always been the breakdown call? Has it ever been the information call? and is the switch still operable with a finger press? I hear it's making the touch sound through the infotainment.

It has a similar symptom of what happens to any capacitive switch that can't discharge properly, like an intermittent ground in my estimation. Unfortunately not fixable externally.

You just need a dealership electrician to prove the fault is within the overhead panel and they can likely replace that whole unit under warranty as it doesn't look physically damaged. They will have wiring diagrams, If they can probe that single switch on the PCB it should be easy to catch. More likely they won't have time to go to that level. (Balance diagnostic labour with parts costs). Maybe a more obvious moisture ingress / corrosion will be identifiable.

They don't fit superior mechanical buttons anymore so no excuses considering all the cost savings going with these cheap solutions hey!

Technically it's calling for help itself, which is fairly comedic given the situation.

Thanks for the reply. Yes it does actually alternate between the Info and breakdown. As you say it sounds like haptic is being pressed. My wife had a little bit of success with wiping it and it stopped.

Think the buttons can be pressed but to be honest i don't dare touch in case i get into loop - it is really distracting to drive, i would say almost dangerous - but can't afford to just leave it on the drive until October when it is booked in!..

I think you are right about haptic panel being faulty.. Wonder if there is a fuse i could pull and no effect anything else!

Hi, update - not had problem again.. though I think that panel has stopped working too.. I hven't tried to press too much in case it came alive but had a quick rub and nothing happened on the buttons ... so wondering if it has finally broken itself which is better than it causing problem it did...

In other news the rear USB-C's don't seem to be working... which is odd - not sure if a new thing or always been the case..

Same issue here. Driving along today and it called breakdown services 3 times. Had to cancel calls from infotainment system as the touch panel above has also stopped working. Booked into Cupra who want the car for 3days! Love the car, hate the touch sensitive buttons.

Don’t cancel the calls, let them connect. Every time. There’ll be a record on their end of every time it’s done it then, more proof on top of the video.

All these things are logged on the ECU's as well. There is a very extensive log held on the car itself. If you can download those details, but don't delete them!

That's assuming the dealer can be arsed to pull those logs. It'll help if Seat customer service is bitching to the dealer to fix it ASAP if they're getting 50 calls a day from the same car :D
