I used fuse tap to be sure about safety and covered cables with spark plug tape. Using 70mai UP02 parking module. Both of my vehicles works fine for about 2.5 years.

Not sure what fuse tap is but if it means connecting to the car's fuse or battery I cannot do that as have been told it will breach my PCH contract hence looking for a camera that has either its own battery supply or a separate battery pack, but thanks for your suggestions
Blackvue cams have an option for a dedicated battery pack; however, as far as I can tell, the cam will only draw from the battery when it senses the ignition is switched off, which obviously means hardwiring the camera to a switched 12V feed.
I'm now looking at dash cams that will work in parked mode with an OBDII cable connect which I understand will not impact my PCH agreement or drain my battery.
