Hey Guys

My car has had a slight problem with starting for the last few months but Ive but that down to the cold weather but today it wont turn over.

When I try to get it to start it acts as if the battery is dying which sets the alarm off but I tested the battery and the reading comes back as 12v each time so I know it is good. I am aware that there is an electrical fault in two of the cylinders glow plug I have seen come up before P17056 but I cleared this to see if it would allow the car to turn over.

I want to know if anyone knows of this problem and ways of fixing it, I have seen comment online of some similar to my problem but mine I feels has a few slight differences.

Does anyone know if I an able to bump start the car to get I going. I don't want to try and move unless I know I can be bumped.

Any advice is welcome and appreciated.

Thanks

Offhand I would suggest:

-Do a proper load test on the battery. Just reading 12V is not a good test of how much current it can supply
-Check the earthing straps on the battery and the engine - the starter draws a lot of current
-Check the starter itself - which will mean taking it out.

Well I've ran it down the street and was able to bump start the car, it fired up no problem no coughing or spluttering once it fired up.

I'm a little suprised it started in all honesty as I didn't think that it would start without a source of ignition, as the glow plugs are a bit dickie. I am still going to need to run it in with the AA and use my breakdown repair cover.
