Carbon bonnet

A mate of mine said he once seen pictures of a mk4 with a carbon bonnet fitted to it

is this true? is there one released?
never seen one myself and dont fancy it, but just wanted a look

see, i dont see point in that. Why have carbon on a black car? it aint really gonna stand out. Now carbon on Red Yellow or White would look spot on IMO (providing it has black/charcoal rims and tints)

just like a bit of colour co-ordination. I personally love black cars, and think tints on a black car are a must. other colours tho, do what ya like. but if something is gonna be black, then make other parts match

A few of the mk1 Leon guys have them. I would quite like one actually, mainly for the weight saving prospect.

Bonnets are quite heavy lumps of metal..but larger on the Leon so more heavy. Every little helps lower the CoG

thing is crap cheep carbon can be nearly as heavy as metal equlivent (ok im talking bikes but the same must be true)

yea youre probably right but the Leon ones knock 70% of the bonnet weight off. I don't think they look chavvy really. I wouldn't want one with vents and crap in it Expensive if it gets damaged tho.

OK so it will save some weight but how much?
A few kilo's at best. Let's be honest the bonnet is hardly the heaviest panel on the car.
If you put sound proofing on as well I don't think the weight saving warrants the cost.
Better way to save weight would be to fit lightweight wheels or carbon doors.
