If the stuff "carbonSkin" sell is the stuff I think it is then it's vylny with a carbon patern and texture to it. From what I'v seen it is pretty good.
I dont think you'd be able to do the bit you are talking about with real carbon as you cant fold it round the back of the part, and because it is a loose weave when you try to cut it it all move's makeing stright edges very hard to do.
