Hi guys/girls

I want peoples opinion on the carbonio CAI as i have had it fitted for 6 months now and love the noise and performance gain but im worried about dirt and water being in contact with the filter given its positon, I know its a chance you take but thinkin its not worth sucking up crap!
I began to worry when i washed the car i randonly decided to look at the filter from under the car and could see water dripping from the filter cone which i believe came in through the gaps under the headlights and front panel lines this cant be good as it would do the same in the rain? :( advice and comfort please!

Jim

Yes sucking up water from deep puddles and hydrolocking your engine is a very real possibility. With these types it's recommended switching to a short ram in the engine bay in the winter and only use the long down-behind-the-bumper type in dry weather.

Because the filter gets dirty and wet down there you're supposed to clean and re-oil it much more often, or use a pre-filter sock.

Yeah seriously thinking of changing back to an in bay filter but i can appreiciate the performance gain but do not want to suck any dirt into my beloved engine standard air box and panel filter or Jabba Kit?

I run a Carbonio and would be more worried about my feet getting wet in a situation where the filter became submerged. The chances of having a problem are tiny, unless you plan to drive through a river.

Love mine and had no problems the idea ArosaRacer came up with was to have a spare filter that fits so you can take it off and clean it while still being able to use the car
mine gets cleaned 2/3 times a year
